No flash memory???
d_mn!!
I'm waiting for Brayder to make an announcement about whether it can be done before I give up all hope, but it sounds like it may be the same situation as the TG50. :(

I think KP's judgement seems right. I had TG50 (non-flash unit) before and showed the same message. Hopefully NX80V has the flash.
so sony actually locked the Flash then wasting good space for storage..... sigh.... :(

Doesn't the NX73 use the 263 CPU? That's got 32MB of FLASHRAM built into the CPU, which would be wonderful. The catch is, I'm sure, that since it's built into the CPU, jackflash will have to be updated for yet another method of detecting and flashing RAM.
So, in the long run, this might be a good thing :)

I don't have a lot of technical knowledge about the various CPUs, but I believe you're right that the new NX chip has built-in flash. I hope that means that we only have to wait for Brayder to get ahold of one and work out an update.

The new Intel Strata@Flash all in one chip has a 64 bit key that Sony can use to lock it up.
you were correct about the chip being locked Larry! :)
by the way, thanks for your wisdom! :D
thats no good....
will there be a chace?
please someone say YES.
being able to use Eruware on new ones and hoping the extra space on teh ROM... i was considering upgrading...but now....

I am no expert, but I can only relate what I read and understood from Intel. One of the new features is giving the PDA maker total control. I seriously doubt Sony would give the code to unlock the chip to us end users. Shoot, Sony doesn't even give out the API's to developers so that we could have more accessories for our Clies. Recently some have found this out with Sony's new TG50 Clies. So if anyone wants the new Clie, they're better off getting the NX80 which has at least 16MB of user available RAM.
For the above aforementioned reason, IMHO, the NX73 is a downgrade fron the NX70 :(.
Eddy, your welcome :)!

I didn't say that they couldn't be reflashed or upgraded. I just said that it's locked and only if Sony gives out the 64-bit key to unlock it, will you or anyone else be able to access it.

Is there a way to find the 64-bit key? I guess intel has to have a way to find it, right?
