Might be an alternative to Beyond Contacts from Dataviz - but it's rather expensive

Just went to their site, and to my dismay, they appear to have discontinued selling Key Contacts as a separate application! I've been meaning to buy this app, but have just not gotten around to it. Now it looks as if I've lost the opportunity.

If its true that we can no longer buy Key Contacts, that'll be too bad. I don't need everything in KeySuite (I use Agendus) and don't want to pay $50 for it, even at this special introductory rate!

Just got a reply from Chapura... its true; one cannot buy KeyContacts as a separate application any longer. That stinks.

Ah, procrastination never pays....

I played around with the demo...not very impressed. I think Beyond Contacts is much better for the money. Of course I prefer Datebk5 and SuperNames using PocketMirror to sync with Outlook, but If you "live" in Outlook I would definately go with Beyond Contacts. It feels more like Outlook, if that makes any sense.

I just finished a serious trial of Beyond Contacts and while I agree that it is the closest thing to Outlook yet for the Palm OS, I ended up returning to Agendus though. My reasons:

1. No hi-res/hi-res+ support.
2. Very large memory footprint.
3. Lack of easy, intuitive linking of contacts to To Do items.

The decisions these companies are making in dropping older conduit products to spur adoption of these newer suites is unfortunate and, I think, short sighted. Dataviz decided to discontinue Desktop to Go when they released Beyond Contatcs and now Chapura seems to be going the same route with KeySuite.

Thanks for the advice, LittleSaint and mochant.

I use DatBk5 and TealPhone, and sync w/ PMP...

I don't see a sufficient reason to move to KeySuite....

I don't see the 'huge' benefit of spending $50 for an application... which increases the field to 32k of notes.. instead of 8k. If I live in Outlook so much that I need 32k of notes for many things.... I'll carry around my laptop. I don't really look at my PDA as a replacement to my PC .... it is an 'extension' of it. But that is me. Had a couple nice 'things' about it (more eye candy as far as I was concerned) which can be beneficial ...... but I certainly don't think it is worth the price they are asking. I still think it is unclear what the 'beaming' means. If one has to have the same software on their PDA to receive the data ... what good is that? That is some of the nice things about PalmOS and PDAs in general... you can easily beam datebook items/addresses/memos/todo from one PDA to another because they all use the same type database structures. I think KeySuite goes against this and doesn't offer the flexibility of sharing data amongst all PDAs. Perhaps it does, and I'm wrong. It certainly doesn't state it can beam to everyone. Since KeySuite has its own databases .... I would think beaming would need the recipient to have the same databases so it could accurately put the data into the appropriate database.

All in all... from a real useability for sharing data to most people.... I'd give it a 1.5stars out of 5 at best.
