1src Forums - Trying to convert Animatrix...

I've been trying to convert the 4 free Animatrix videos (downloaded from the site), using ImageConverter... but so far no luck... only the first one partially works (That's Second Renaissance, Part 1).  With this one, there's no sound during the intro (where one sees the matrix-like code falling). The other 3 don't work: i cannot hear the sound on my PC, and they won't play on the CLIE at all.

Anyone has a clue what can i be doing wrong? or, how can i get them to work? Is there any special setting i should change?:confused:

where did you download four movies ?? so far I have only found three.
I downloaded them from the german site I think it's animatrix.de anyway I could'nt convert them in image converter either. but they do convert in Kinoma and they don't lose to much in quality and the sound works.

well, for the fourth one ( Second Renaissence Part II) i remember it was not as easy to download as the others, but i finally found it... tried Kinoma allready, but i don't like the video quality and I don't like mono audio either... i guess I'll try converting to other formats before using image converter, as adviced somewhere else in this forum.

I'll post again if i succesfully convert them.

I have already converted all 4 of the free episodes with image converter for the NX70V.

I also converted the trailer for the entire "movie".

Each episode I believe is like ~30MB. I don't have the bandwidth to host them, but could temporarily post them and someone with the bandwidth could host them.

Just a little update on this one. I allready have 8 out of 9 episodes, converted for the CLIE in HQ Movie Player Format... the problem when trying to convert was audio... In the end, i used TMPEGEnc to convert to MPEG1 and then IC to convert to Movie Player Format. I could also send / post them if someone is interested.

Every time I try to convert with tmpegenc i get the same message that the (second renaisance) 2R2_320_dl file is not supported.. this is a file I downloaded from the german animatrix site. I can convert it with kinoma but it's crap.
do I have the right file to start with or are the movies available somewhere else in a different format, also where did you get 9 movies from????? did you rip the dvd ??

OK... someone wants to host them?... I have no problem on sending 'em via e-mail... but i can't host them myself. Let me know how can it be done... they are 8 30MB+ files...

I have the first 4 episodes uploaded and ready to download.

I only have 80MB more space on my site, so I could not host all 8. However, what I think we can do is I can host the 1st 4 and everybody download, then I will host the 2nd four?

How does that sound?

Also, b/c of bandwidth, I have password protected the page and directory.

I will send you the necessary credentials to download the moves.

Then, maybe around monday, CCLEDA, I will pass along to your the necessary credentials to upload to my FTP site and I will make available the other 4?

sounds like good news to me. I'd like to get a copy of the BEYOND to view off my CLIE. Since I've already the Final Flight of the Osiris, don't remember how many times I've mentioned that already.
I like CG animation very much, does anybody by the way, have any Bruce Lee, yes the legendary martial artist, in CG clips? I've been searching and searching but no luck. :(

My problem so far is that my image converter codes the original movie file eg. 2R2_320_dl fine but when I come to play it on my TG50 it just skips to the end and keeps skipping back and forth and I have to do a reset ?????
It was suggested in another thread that I use quicktime pro to edit the original file type before running it through I C
So I managed to get quicktime pro , now the problem is that if I export the movie as an AVI it comes out at 122 meg, (started out as a 23.2 meg file)
So I tried mpeg4 which came out at 63 meg but IC won’t read mpeg4 files.

Any idea what settings I need to use in quicktime pro or how I can stop the skipping ????

Please help if ya can coz this is driving me nut’s, the only people who have managed to encode animatrix movies have all done it for N series clie’s which ain’t much use to small screen users.

I have cracked it, using quick time pro I turned the animatrix movies into avi's which come out at massive file sizes, but it turns out that image converter shrinks them down to a much more managable size, so far I have only got the first four movies :-

..2R2
..program
..detective
they are all encoded ready to play on 320 x 320 clie movie players (OS5 TG 50 only) there seems to be plenty of people with the larger screen size coded files anyway.
I am going to shuffle around some stuff on my website and see if I can host them there, if anyone has or knows where I can get the rest of the movies please let me know.

Ok, for those who might be interested... Final Flight of the Osiris has allready been uploaded... the other 3 (Kid's Story, World Record & Beyond) are currently being uploaded, and should be ready about 3 hours after this post... contact ncoday if you want to download.

And, I'm currently in the process of downloading the last episode (Matriculated) so, if I'm lucky enough, i could convert and upload this one too... maybe tomorrow.

You're pretty much like me. I spent lots of time trying to get the finest quality conversion of Final Flight. That 36MB file is now the show piece in my NZ90. And yes, i have the Bruce Lee CG clip. Let me know where I can upload it.

I just downloaded the 4 episodes. HOwever, Beyond and Kid's Story don't seem to work. Maybe they got corrupted in the upload ccelada?

OK... yesterday night i uploaded Kid's story and Beyond. I also got myself a copy of Matriculated, wich is also worth watching. I will upload this one tonight, for those who want to download.

Image convertor needs uncompressed audio in order to make playable movies. I use Virtual Dub to convert DivX3,4,5 and XVid avi files to uncompressed PCM audio before using Image convertor.

my host has taken cliemax.co.uk offline and said it would be handed over to the abuse department whatever the hell that is,
if your host banned the videos maybe mine will do the same, I have to wait for them to tell the reason. in the meantime www.cliemax.co.uk is back online on another host sadly it's got annoying pop up adds but I'm hoping this will be temporary, the site is up without the video downloads because even if they were not the cause of the problem with my alternate host I don't have enough bandwidth to handle the 300 to 400 downloads a day I was getting before. I am amazed how many people were downloading the four videos from my site.

If the animatrix videos are banned from my site I will have to find something else to fill the gap, here's a idea I had that I would like a bit of feedback on if anyone has a moment, there are loads of threads about what to have on screen in the cradle when not in use some have pictures or slide shows some have clocks, some people ask if you can get screensavers or visualizations for mp3 playback. everybody who has OS5 can have flash player so how about small file SWF flash graphic movies/ screensavers I made one with just bubble dots randomly scrolling down the screen and it looked pretty cool. I know this is a bit of a tangent but what do you think???

I still haven't heard from my host regarding my so called 'abuse' but it is looking more and more like it's because I was hosting animatrix movies I suppose they don't like people editing them into different formats.
how does mjpd get away with hosting these movies??

RE flash screen saver.

It was just an idea so that people who have flash player actually get to use it for something I know there are flash swf cartoons available but I thought a screensaver would be cool.
I have made a couple of tests one with it's own looping ambient music, and one silent which lets you use audio player in the background if you want. they are just basic animated bubbles scrolling down the screen at the moment but I am working on some idea's. Basically I enjoy creating flash and it's just another excuse to make something people might enjoy.

quick question. does flash player on the N series clies play 320 x 480 full screen?? if so I will make some screensavers to that size.

Landscape mode is possible, but not exactly 320x480 because you'd still have the volume control from the Flash at the right hand side of the screen, similar to MoviePlayer while viewing widescreen mode. :D

I never said I was removing all the videos, I still haven't heard from my host, but I didn't seem to have any problems with the Kylie video (very popular) the Honda cog or the star wars clip, so I don't think movies are banned from my site just the animatrix one's.
