os 5 serial port problem

On an internet site i read that some old pre 0s5 applications that use the serial port need a patch to work with Os5, old applications expect the port to be open.

I can't find the patch, has anyone else had a problem

A most pre-OS5 apps that access hardware directly don't work, but there isn't just one patch that would fix the all the apps. What app are you using?
