Has anyone used this? What cable did you use in order to Hotsync with desktop? I have treid to get the optional cable but the documentation does not tell you which one. I looked at the HS10 cable but that says it is for use Without a cradle.
Cheers

i have it, but it cost me us$100 (bought in kuala lumpur). i wouldn't recommend it though, you might as well play music straight from your computer.

You can use any USB cable as long as its has these connectors:
A Male on one end and Mini B Male on the other end.
Just like this cable:

I looked at this but the cable's connector that would go into the cradle is too large - it will not fit. Did you use this?

Yes. The receptacle on the SPC100K is for a 5 pin mini B USB connector. That's exactly what I'm using and it fits and works.

Or, you can go buy Sony's cable, PEGA-HS10. It's basically the same cable as the Belkin except for the hotsync connector addition.

The HS10 is basically the same thing as that Belkin cable except that it comes with that connector that you attach the power cable and mini-B end of the cable to if you don't have a cradle.

Is this the same cable as the one that comes with the standard cradle? If so can the cable be removed from the standard cable to save me buying a new cable?

I do own the SPC100K speaker cradle and love it. Yeah, it's not as good as a nice set of PC speakers but it sure beats the heck out of that built-in one. But, to answer your question, no I have not yet bought the USB cable for it. I do network hotsyncs when in that cradle for now. I will be buying a cable soon and the SonyStyle website (under the 100K cradle detailed description) states that the HS10 cable is what's needed. I am not sure whether I'll order the HS10 or just go find a mini B cable elsewhere, like the Belkin. Whichever winds up being cheaper, I suspect.

Great - I have tried to take the Hotsync cable out of the standard cradle but the connector going in back of the cradle cannot be dislodged - pity as could have reused it on the speaker cradle
You can get the cable at RadioShack Part# 26-176. Look here: http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F004%5F002%5F002%5F000&product%5Fid=26%2D176 It's $14.99, probably less than SonyStyle.

Of course, that would have made too much sense! :)

Just done the same. Disappointed though that Sony (and dabs.com) did not highlight this when I bought it.

How is the sound quality? Is it comparable to, say, standard pc speakers?
I'm interested in it, as soon as I get my NX73V.

The sound quality is rather nice, about the same as a good (Sony? :-)) medium sized portable radio. The cradle has 3 speakers, one behind the front grill of 1.1 Watts, left and right are smaller ones, each 0.5 Watts, so the total power adds up to 2.1 Watt.
The cradle comes with the same power supply as the TH55 (5.2 Volts 2 Amp, input 100/240 VAC), so you don't need to hook it up to your PC to use it. It draws no current from USB.
At the back there are 3 connectors: mini-USB (for a cable like the one supplied with the TH55), DC in, and Audio In.
The right size has a 3-position slide switch: Clié, Audio Off and Audio In. The Clié position is only for Cliés with OS5, like the TH55. For OS4.1 you need an extra audio cable to connect the Clié headphone output to the Audio In of the cradle. Of course, the Audio In can also be used to connect a small FM radio or walkman. Pitty there's no Line Out to hook up the cradle to the home stereo system (I guess it 's not too hard to add a line out if you're handy).
All the Clié sounds are amplified through the speakers, not just MP3. This makes this cradle ideal for the bedroom: alarms are now more than loud enough to wake up even ME :-)
This cradle is also great for the office. While my TH55 charges, it displays a nice clock (Megaclock) and plays my favorite music.
I can certainly recommend this cradle! The best 50 bucks I've spent in a while.
