AmbiCom Wireless Card

I just saw the Ambicom WL1100C-CF 802.11b wireless card at BB. It *says* it's for PDAs, and the the know-nothing clerk of course *says* it'll work on any of them (yeah right), but the website indicates it was designed for WinCE type PDAs.

Now, this card is only $80, compared to the $150 for the Sony. Does anybody out there know of a driver for this card? I've written Ambicom, and I'll post their reply.

Nope.... it has been unofficially determined that the NX itself does a check to ensure that the hardware (Wifi card) is indeed the Sony card. Even if this was not the case, the Sony card is a rebranded Intel Pro Wireless card which has a higher priced (better?) chipset than the sub $100 cards.

There are no drivers for the WL1100C-CF card and the Sony Clie NX70V. As far as plans for creating a driver, there are no real plans in the near future. Please check our website periodically for any updates in this matter. We are very sorry for the inconvenience.

Of course, I didn't expect much else. But, since someone wrote a driver for the CF modem, I was thinking someone may do the same for the cheaper WiFi cards.

At least they responded.... I'm still waiting from a reply from Yi Bing concerning YiShow Explorer from my emails (notice: plural) sent in, well let's see, NOVEMBER! Zlauncher should pay him a royalty for converting many of us to their launcher (rant over).

I just picked up an AmbiCom Wireless card for my newly acquired NX80V. The tech at BestBuy thought it would work because my Clie has an actual CF slot. Do you know if anything has changed regarding drivers for the AmbiCom cards? I can't get on the AmbiCom website to see if they have a driver for Palm OS5.

If the driver still doesn't exist, it's back to BestBuy . . .
