Boy does the built-in SMS app suck... and I tried using funSMS, but I guess there are too many issues with the TG-50's built-in BT because I keep getting fatal errors and I've heard of others have gotten the same.
Can anyone recommend a good SMS app that works with the TG-50 over BT?

ive tried several apps. they all suck as much as the builtin one. its either too bulky, too simple and confusing GUI or buggy. funSMS came really close to being perfect but it goes crazy when you try to cancel the retrieval.
try funsms...maybe its justs buggy on my machine

I'm using PageNow.
Monkey Messenger is another alternative.
But too bad both don't support Chinese messaging... :(

has anyone tried the agendus sms and mail app? I use agendus but version 5 from way back when and don't intend to upgrade until I get my new PDA (TG50)
agendus SMS (http://www.iambic.com/agenduspro/palmos/?b=1&bi=1)

I tried them all. . And I think none of them is perfect. That's why I settled with the SMS app that is shipped with TG50. It works. A big plus for me. It's very simple - agreed, but it also is very reliable and that's what counts for me.
I had the same problems with email clients for the palm OS until I finally tried SnapperMail; maybe we can push the developers of SnapperMail to integrate SMS capabilities... ;) but that's a long stretch. For now I would really settle with the built-in SMS app.

thanks for the advice guys
graph101, i don't think it's just yours... I think on the funSMS website they say that funSMS has issues with the Sony built-in Bluetooth interface...
kusumo, are you using pagenow over Bluetooth or infrared with your TG-50?

How was the agendus pro sms app? What did you think about that?

unfortunately, i'm not sure if it works over BT, much less TG50 BT
hmm... agendus looks interesting, but the SMS details are a bit hazy. It just says it'll show up if you have built in SMS support, whatever that means.
I guess I'll be sticking with the built-in app too... when will funSMS support the TG-50 over Bluetooth?!?!?!

Try to use MobileSMS. You can get it in handango. It works neatly with my TG50 and SE T610 over bluetooth connection. The GUI is a bit confusing, but it has a help that make you get used to it. The Demo version has a countdown during startup.

Tried Agendus SMS but it doesn't seem to work on normal PDA. If I'm not mistaken the SMS app can only support PDA phone such as T/W or Treo

ah well, i think meddiejusuf's right... so far mobile sms seems to be the best (i.e. ONLY) alternative to the built-in SMS app...
the only two features i really think it's lacking is the ability to delete multiple sms's at once (instead of select, delete, click ok, select, delete, click ok) and the ability to auto download sms messages from the phone, either by timer, or as soon as the app is launched.
If it had those two features, i'd happily pay for it, but as it stands now, i'll have to save my money for the app that does do it.

agendus pro SMS works! i have a TG50 and a 3650... too bad it can't read the messages on the phone... sending is easy though... not too much of a difference from the built in app so i chose to stick with it (built-in).
where's the 3650 driver!!!!!!??????!!!!!
I use the built-in one because it WORKS flawlessly .. and that counts
and I can save some RAM space .. what is really hard on TG50 with just 11MB ram .. happy mine has got extra 3.6MB flash ..
