Hello, I am very enjoying to use the NX, for it is really a personal entertaining organiser.
One great feature is that, at NX, you can play movie files.
However, many of the VCD movie files are in .dat format, not in .avi or .mpg format, so Image Converter can't work. Can anyone suggest an solution? Many thanks!

it is a little bit complicated to convert a movie for viewing in gMovie or kinoma format.
1. use windows movie maker to convert the .dat to be wmv format.
2. use eo-video (http://www.eo-video.com/) for converting from wmv format to be mpeg format.
3. use kinoma producer to convert the mpg format to be pdb format.
another thing u have to be aware of is the size of the movie, since we currently only have a max of 128mb memory stick.
i suggest u to cut the movie into parts when using the windows movie maker.
good luck and have fun

I could be wrong, but I think that the .dat files are really just MPEG-1 format files. Try renaming them with a .MPG extension and see if that works.

They are MPEG files, but with a recovery record of their own, so they need to be treated a little different. However you could just get something like VCDGear which extracts MPEG files from VCD images or actual VCDs
