View Full Version : Launcher X skin ideas / suggestions?
As many people may have ideas for LX skins but don't wish to get involved in CodeWarrior to make them, I thought a type of "virtual" brainstorming thread for LX skin ideas may help get some very interesting skins created. I'm not skilled like Lubak with CodeWarrior (few are), but would like to learn more by playing around with it a bit. If you have any ideas (or images) you would like to see in an LX skin, here is your place to share your thoughts.
Please help those that may not be very creative (i.e. ... me). Let your creative juices flow.
Huh, Launcher X what's that? Just kidding. Was it ever released?

What about a "Linux KDE" looking skin? Another one I'd like is a "cromish" skin -- something like the "CopperDeck II" theme for ZLauncher. In general I think that LX skins are too "plain", so it would be nice to have 3d-like tabs and top & bottom bars.

Linux KDE will be hard as I don't have access to source images. The CopperDeck would be nice, but the original artist probably wouldn't like a rip of his work ... something along the same lines may be possible (I like the fact that the colors are darker than most LX skins).
Thanks for the suggestion and if you have (or can get) KDE images, that would be great.

It seems like the "flood" of cool skins that we were supposed to see for LX never came...and I doubt ever will...I have the feeling that MOST people gave up on LX almost as fast as they installed it...I am one of those people...nothing about that launcher appealed to me. Not one thing. Not even a little itty bitty thing.
With Launchers like Yishow and ZL out...LX is way behind the times even though it was supposed to be cutting edge.
There are however many people that really latched onto LX, namely most of the former LIII users who just saw it as a LIII update with a lot of added functionality. I respect that...to each his own...I am not a die hard fan of any single launcher...right now I am split between Yishow and ZL, but I am also very excited to see the update to ML and hopeful of a HUGE update to LX.
I think oll of the launchers have something to offer....and I hope that this thread encourages some people to make some cool skins for LX...
I personally would like to see something like a coughdrop skin for it. that would be neat...and I might even re-install my copy of LX just to check it out. ;)

I personally love LauncherX. The only thing that's missing in my opinion is the ability to display ALL programs on one tab. Is this a skin feature? Or a feature of the launcher itself?

Can't you just make shortcuts of all your programs and put them in one tab yourself? Seems like it should be pretty easy to do...

I can't believe that My Best Friend Plank has been ignored by skinners for so long...

I should be able to send you some BMP's about the KDE interface... some icons (which are *very* cool) and maybe a couple of screenshots. At the moment my "Linuxmachine" is dead (hard disk crashed last monday), so I have to wait to fix the machine before re-installing it. :( However I asked a friend to grab me some screenshots, so I should be able to send you the images before reinstalling Linux. I'll make you know ASAP. Thanks for your attention! All the best
