Will NX battery suffer from memory effect?
Do i need to wait till its fully discharged b4 recharging or can i charge the battery at any levels? say 30%, 50%, 70%?

I charge my battery at any time - never looked at the level.

hmm...so do u notice any memory effect?

Memory effect? Not sure what you are asking?

To the best of my knowledge....Lithium Ion (LiOn) batteries do not suffer from memory effect. I believe Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) and Nickel Cadmium (NiCad) do. The NX has a Li battery.
Li-Ion(NX) does not suffer. They have mere problems with discharge. That means you should prevent it from beeing nearly emptied for this stresses the batterie. LI do as well not like heat or cold, they do drain faster if done so.
NiMh are the best: for they are strong, hold longer and are nearly indestructable by discharge or recharge. But are too bulky and heavy and may get a Memory effect as well.
NiCd however are the early ones which were suffering really bad memory effect-probs and had as well bad battery life. But they are really cheap. You can't charge any battery with a charger out of another group. I twill overheat and explode or destroy it(NiCD in NiMh) or will have no effect to the battery power(NiMh/LI in NiCd charger).
Helped?

GREAT! Thanks for all the info nx70 and rpayne, I have been wondering this one as well as I always charge my NX overnight, whether it has 100% or 30%!

yeah, thanks a million!
In the manual it states you should do so, as it improves the battery life. Before I got into deep I wouldn' t have thought that, too.
BTW LI-Ion POLYMER means it is formable so you can make a statue out of it while keeping the battery specifics.
(Same applies to the T68i as well).
To add:
I meant while in heat/cold they work less- exposed to normal they work properly again. For these temperatures use/stick to NiMh.
Also if a Li-Ion is emptied out you can't recover- though you can a NiMh, but in both cases the battery suffers this fault.

Well concerning batteries there are a lot of tales around and even vendors don't get it anymore how to treat them well.
Back for the ancent ni-cd and in some aspects for the ni-mh batteries you should from time to time do full discharges to prevent them from getting a memory-effect.
Li-ion and li-po dont have that problem anymore, but you should know, that using them completely down reduces the amount of recharge-cycles until they can only recover to about 80 % of their original power. This is some kind of limitation too. Therefore I try to get my battery recharged if it falls to about 60 or 50 %. But I use it longer If i cant recharge.
For ex. if you fully discharge a li-ion it takes about 500 recharge-cycles until the battery can only recover to 80 % of its initial power. If you only do shallow discharge it takes about 1000 recharges up to 80 % if īts initial power
Li-Po, which can be produced in some kind flatter way have less lifecycles compared to li-ion: 300/500.
- i remarked in the manual of my former m505 that palm inc. asked to recharge daily and was confused until isidor buchmann aswered my questions -> see his website for very professional answers (comparison table):
http://www.buchmann.ca/Article4-page2.asp -
So if you take for ex. 350 cycles as an average value of the li-po this mean, that on daily recharges after one year you can think about having less battery power (for ex. the nz90 will make it easy to exchange the battery). If you recharge once per week it will keep you probably longer then you will stay with your pda before buying a new one (like you can see with the palm V and Vx!). But be aware of buying used pda's. You won't know in what conditions the battery is ;-)
Ohh, and look at this excellent article too:

I may have memory issues, but thank goodness my battery doesn't.
