... at least in Hong Kong.

Most impressive thing to me is the battery life -- quite a bit better than the SJ-30 or any other Clie made right now. Bloody thick and heavy though.

The one thing that ticks me off is the unremovable flip cover.

Main differences to SJ30:
- 66 Mhz Super Dragonball
- unremovable flip cover
- MP3 player + monaural speaker + headphone jack
- longer battery life (17h to 12h)
- Memorystick Magicgate compatible (MS Pro ?)
- weights 172 g (to 139g !! for SJ30) + larger dimensions than SJ30
- built-in Kinoma Video player
Price:
290.- $/€

MS Pro is only on OS5 devices (ones with XScale procs).

Ok then what is the difference between the SJ33 and the T665c? I'm assuming the metal body and the battery life.

I like the cover, so long as it's not fiddly to flip up.

The extra 5mm depth of 33 over 30 is presumably the cover, which also accounts for mots of the extra 30g or so weight (maybe the longer life battery is larger?).

Conclusion I draw from a lot of debate over SJ30 cases on this forum (including my own disappointment with Proporta case) is that SJ30 design poses real problems for cases which don't demand big compromises. The SJ33 hard cover is just what I would have liked for my SJ30. Something a bit tougher than current flip cover, but which kept dust and stuff off the screen when it's in my pocket (I'm more concerned about this than drop protection). Now could anyone copy this cover design for the SJ30...?

Argh, kill me. Have bought the SJ30 just a week ago, and judging from the specs, the SJ22 will do the same for less money.

*sigh* that's how it goes ...

I must say that I love the undetachable flip-cover. Has anyone noticed that it doesn't do a 180 degree flip? It is somewhere near 150 or so... I hope it doesn't break down easily. And, if the Clie is lying on the table with the cover open, I wonder where the center of gravity is... and whether the Clie will easily flip over as a whole.

The cover is detachable, as evidenced by the fact that Sony will sell separate covers in different colors.

Here's a post from the nXtClieClub Yahoo Group which follows:

Thanks to Ed Hardy for the nXtClieClub post.

My opinion is that even though the SJ733 it is going to have a lower cost than the T665 and a longer battery life, it's problem may be it is .9 inches thick compared to .5 for the T665.

Please keep sharing any thoughts you might have after looking at the web site at the end of this email or any other information you might have.

Thanks,
Alan

I meant to say SJ33 in the post above, not SJ733. Sorry.

The SJ33 is getting close to what I want, if it just had OS5, voice recorder and Bluetooth. I love the integrated hard cover, and the asthetics of the device. I checked Sony's Japan site and the interesting thing is the hold switch is also the power switch which makes me think when you slide it to power on, off or toggle backlight it would spring back. A very nice device, and if the SJ22 is in the same form factor I could see it being a hot seller for it's $200 price tag.

It is a nice upgrade, but it is not something for me to upgrade my SJ30 right now. OS is still 4.1 and soon they will come out with a new one (6months after)

I like it being faster than my SJ30 though. MP3, not something I needed in my SJ30 (my wife NX70 has an MP3, and I do not have the desire to have one for my everyday use)

As I have stated other places FiloD, I would have to agree with you. I'm sure the SJ33 isn't even 4.1.2 with the new Graffiti2, but just 4.1. The only complaint I have with my SJ30 is it's really low volume and speaker sounds, but I will wait for it's OS5 replacement before even considering changing devices. I tried the Tungsten T, and while everything about it was pretty solid the screen did not come close to the Sony models. The frontlit display looks washed out with the light on and every one I tried (three different models) had dust under the screen. I eagerly wait for the compact Sony model with OS5 and it's supported features.

I checked the Audio Player out on an NX model and I loved how it supported playlists. Also, the multimedia capabilties of OS5 devices is awesome. Whatever Sony comes out in a compact OS5 model will be a sight to see.

Does the flip snap off? How is the battery life compared to the T665 or 615? High rez 320x320? Is the stylus bigger. I hate the current stylus of the 615 . Its a toothpick!! Does it come with a cradle or cable? Can anybody get me the demmisions and weight in inches and oz??? Will it have a metal case or plastic? Will this have the same connector as the other Sonys to work with accessories.
I have a 11 month old M515 that is having static problems and losing battery. For basic PIM functions will this unit have similar features to replace my dieing M515

All of those questions Tritan will have to be answered when the device is released.

It has to be, the device isn't coming out for another week in Hong Kong and February 28th in the States. This is obviously a fake.

And look at the number of people bidding on it... sad.

I E-mailed the seller, and the response I got was that he/she knew 'someone' who works for Sony and he/she could get the SJ33 by some pre-sale personel promotion.

Errr... right.
