I'm trying to decide which Overclocking utility would be best for my SJ_33? Any suggestions?

FastCPU locks up my T665C (same CPU) when set above 74 MHz, and causes instabilities below that. Others say it works OK for them. The difference is probably in the individual hardware tolerances. Nevertheless, 66 MHz works fine for me and I've given up on every getting my money's worth from MegaSoft2000.

There are two utilities that would do this:
1) FastCPU (non-hack)
2) Afterburner (hack)
You should be able to get a 50% increase in the clock speed (ie. 33Mhz to 55Mhz on a 615, 66Mhz to 99Mhz on 665) but as TankerBob says, it depends on what tolerances your hardware can handle (and what programs are able to handle the overclocking).

Buy a new NX Clie and you won't worry about overclocking :)
Just a suggestion

Also use that app that reduce ram wait stages and the other things...what is it called...it did 4 things to speed up your Clie without overclocking it...
Anyways use that app and fastcpu.

I think it was called QuickBits if I remember right.

QuickBits worked fine on my Palm IIIc, but it kinda messed up functionality on my Clie T675C.
Text wasn't displayed correctly sometimes and some other bugs.
I tried it in Nov. last year, don't know if theres a new version out, wich works better on Clies.

Afterburner won't work on the SJ33/T665/NR (66MHz) series. Only the older 33MHz Cliés. I have written the author and asked for a new version, and he said he would "think about it". :(
FastCPU worked fine until version 3. The latest version is quite unstable. It causes lots of problems on most systems, even when set to stock speed! A few say it works, though, so there is a slim chance...

Quickbits doesn't work on OS4.1 devices.
It will load up, but all it would show on the things you can enable is a list of zero items!
I upgraded my PalmIIIx to OS4.1 and loaded quickbits to see what it was like. Well - the amount of optimisation was zero! :)

That's strange, it worked fine on my m505 running 4.0.

Yeah. No problems here with FastCPU on my 615 ... though I will admit I have not jacked up the speed on _every_ application, nor have I exceeded 50 Mhz just to provide a bit more margin.

Have you used any overclocling tool for NX70? Did it work?

There is none for the NX70 or the NZ90 either! No matter how they overclock OS4 machines, they can't come close to the OS5 ones.

I've downloaded and installed Fast CPU into my SJ-33. Is it normal for some applications, particularly games, to speed up, instead of slow down when I underclock to the minimum? By underclocking the PDA, and cranking GTS Racing up to 91 Mhz (the maximum my CLIE seems to be able to handle before going kapooey), I am able to run the new Hi-Res version of the game fairly smoothly, and with acceptable speed.
Interesting? Meaningless? Any thoughts?

...or the TG50.
God, you NX users like to think that the only OS5 clies are clamshell...

The TG50? Isnt that the handheld with the tiny screen? :D

Sorry, I was just trying to emphasize a point to my friend Lalit. Yes, I realize the TG50 is also an OS5 PDA.
No matter how I over-clocked my NR, it is no match for the NX.

Quickbits gave my S360 about a 20% boost and I've used it for a year with no problems.

I just wanted to add that i read this string and went an tried Quickbits.(in conjunction with fastcpu)
I found all i had to do to make it work on my SJ/22 4.2 Os,
was disable hi-res support and and turn off text option in quickbits itself.
I suppose however mileage may vary,
just wanted to add it is working alright on my unit.
Also, some things are sped up,and some seem normal.
but at $15 Yank,it is a bit steep for such a little boost.

I just installed FastCPU 3.0 on my T665c and must say that I am impressed so far! First mistake I made was setting ZLauncher at "Maximum" (99Mhz) . . . instant lockup! After a reset and lockup again when I exited the password screen, I thought "uh oh," hard reset time, but after thinking a bit, after entering my password I went to Wassup via the hardware button I had programmed for it, changed one of the launcher buttons on Wassup to FastCPU and launched it. After setting ZLauncher to 85Mhz, it ran fine, and fast!
After playing and experimenting (still am) a bit, I am now running the "Common Freq" at 80Mhz and all of my special apps at 85Mhz. Big difference!!! Bible With You is very quick now.
Still "trialing" FastCPU at the moment, but at this stage, I'm thinking it will be worth $15. ;)

The speed change was noticably better, but not enough of a difference (IMHO) to pay for or put up with the aggravation of freezes and fatal alerts. Ctrl, Alt, Delete! :D

Careful... FastCPU and Afterburner tend to mess-up the comm side of your PDAs, ie IR and USB / Serial.
Eg - MSImport on my SJ-30 have problem with OC-ing. Your mileage may varies, though.
