I need my T-415's battery to not hold a charge, what would do that, and if i did that, what would it be fixable with avalable parts? Also what software will help me move from one unit to another?

I want to take revenge on some malicious sales people... or at least get my money's worth.

only thing i can think of would be to fully drain and fully charge and fully drain and so on, if i remember correctly li-ion does not like being fully discharged and fully charged over and over cuz this causes the battery to hold less charge, so hopefully this applies to the lithium polymer, or a better idea would be get jacksprat and delete the launcher/address/notes/datebook off yer t415, this way yer t415 will be useless, since you cant do anything without a launcher, then do a hard reset, your t415 will then be totally useless..

After you finish what j0nblayz said, dip the unit in DISTILLED water (very important, tap water will leave marks) just to make sure its really dead :); because if only the ROM is screwd up, they can just reflash/reinstall a new ROM chip.

hehehe.. even better, after dipping it into distilled water, open up the back case, and unsolder any wires you see, infact, just cut/unsolder the wire that connects to the battery, this will be a gurantee that it wont power, if does, then you might jus have the most reliable palm that anyone has ever seen..

Where did you guys come up with these ideas, I love them. (Your all have sick twisted little minds LOL :D) You guys are great. Would the distilled water not have a corosive effect or cause or residual moisture? Any any other ideas?

AdB3, I said "dip" for a reason. just dip the bottom part up until the bottom of LCD. Theoretically, distilled water (pure H2O) is not conductive, but some metal from your Clie will dissolve in the water, to cause just enough conductivity to short the cuicuit instead of "cough", fry the battery "cough".:D Afterwards, you could wait about a week for it to dry completely or if you are not that patient, just open it up and dry the inside. Wow, I sounded so nerdy.
Seriously though, can't you return or exchange it without killing it?

honestly though, if you want jus want a refund, jus say that its not holding its charge, they can't prove it that it doesn't, and then say that you want the t415 only, and they wont be able to find one, then say you jus wanna refund.. you should be ok, how long have you had it for?

It's too bad that so many of you want to help this person cheat the system for their own gain.

cheat the system? please, lets say you bought a t415, and after 30 days you realized that the t665 is now the same price, wouldnt you want to exchange the t415 for the t665? hell yeah right? let say where you bought it from the store didn't offer price protection, so yer stuck with this t415 when you know you shouldeve gotten the t665 and when you tried exchanging it the salesman tells you that they wont exchange it unless something is wrong with the t415, what would you do? i would personally jus say that its not holding its charge so i can exchange it for t665. You know what, theres a limit to being honest, you should always be honest, but sometimes you jus have to lie to get whatchu want..

This is sleazy! Do you think people don't get hurt when you cheat the system? Prices are ALWAYS going to fall. If you wait another 30 days, you'll find a T665 even cheaper!
Just bite the bullet and do the right thing. These things have a way of catching up to you. Some call it Karma.

whoa, ok guys no need to get all messy up in here... it started as a joke now everyones trippin.. of course i believe in karma, but c'mon now, lets say you have a t615 and you have been using it for 8 month, then yer friend that works at the store (best buy) tells you he found a way for you to exchange it for a t665 without paying 1 cent, would you go ahead with it? or say no its ok cuz i'm honest so i'll jus sell my t615 for half what i paid for and buy the t665? i dont think so, if you get into a situation where you can get something nicer for the same price i bet you anything that you would go ahead with it. but seriously though, i dont mean to start a war here.. all i'm sayin is sometimes you have to lie a bit to get better stuff.. thats it.. doesn't mean you should always lie and never be honest.. jus do whats right for you i say.. dont listen to what people tells you to do, cuz sometimes they might make you do something you regret jus becuz they were jealous...

When i bought the unit I was sold the plan being told that it was a warenty / service / upgrade plan. Now I am being told it is good for service to the unit only (electronics, yes the back cover fell off and that's not covered), things are seeming to change. Shortly after I got the unit I had some software problems, the kind a coupple resets wouldn't fix (don't remember if i Hard reset the unit) I brought it to the store with the other stuff that came with it and they handed me a new box. Now I bring the unit to the store, and they hand me a phone and refrence number and tell me wait 6-8 weeks to see if they can fix it. What is happening here, I am an honest person but I expect the same from a company, the least they could have done was inform me that thier policies are changing. I don't know if Best Buy is better but I am rather disipointed with Circuit City's new plan.

Even my preschoolers can tell you this sort of thing is WRONG!

Ya know, it's just _stuff_. None of us gets to take it with us when we leave ...

BTW, I'm on the "you bought it, you own it" side of the line. You consciously chose the model and the store. You should know what it's like to buy new electronics. Why expect the store to trade you even-up like nothing ever happened?

AdB3, I'm sorry you got burned by a dishonest salesman.  I never buy extended warantees because I've never seen one that wasn't either full of exclusions, or were on products that rarely fail during the period covered.

BUT, if you screw up your unit just to return it, you know it will be put on the clearance bin, and some other person will think it's too good of a deal to pass up, and they will get burned.  Is lowering your integrity worth the savings?

I think it is important to get the word out on a bum rap, though.  If I understand you correctly, it was Circuit City?  And it sounds like the issue is not on the PDA, but on the service plan and on how it was misrepresented?  That's usefull information for all of us.  Although I never trust the salesman's words - Usually they don't know the answer but are more than willing to take a guess, & make it sound like it's fact.  :(

How is his integrity hurt? After he returns it, he isn't connected to it in any way. It's not like the store or the buyer is gonna come after him and get mad at him or ask for money...

His integrity is hurt because he would be doing something dishonest (intentionally damaging his machine or lying about defects). Is that worth the price of a new unit? He knew what he was buying, he bought it, he used it, it works as well as advertised if not better, and now he wants something better. He owns it, if he wants a new one he should buy a new one.

I can't understand how anyone would think there is even a question about this: it's dishonest and unethical, pure and simple.
