I want to listen to audio books - download from www.audio.com (http://www.audio.com) - but the books they sell (downloaded) are NOT MP3, but I still want to listen using my NX60 - any idea who to convert?  Thanks

What format do they come in?

they come in their own format, but not MP3 or ATRAC - but somehow other MP3 players (but not all) can play their book titles - go figure. And, the data is encrypted, so I can't rip directly to a MP3 format - I would love to do that.

what is the extension of their file (i.e .mp3 or .wav) formats?

Also, you might want to e-mail them and see if they have any input on the matter....

Are you sure about that it's www.audio.com? Because if you go there, it looks like that domain is for sale.

Now if you're talking about audible.com , the mp3 players that play those books have audible software built into them to do so. If you want to play those books on your NX you'll have to convert them to mp3s with something like Goldwave which will take an .AA file and convert it to an mp3.

If it is audible.com, then search this forum, you'll find a couple threads on the subject.

Sorry, the web site is audible.com - I think their version format #4 is mp3 - but haven't been bold enough to try it.

Goldwave works. You can download the demo and try it. I use format #2. The file type is not listed, but you can click on "All Files" so you can show any type. Then you just tell it to save the file as MP3. There are several options for how you save it in terms of quality. You can experiment to see what you like. (I don't have my home PC with me now, but I think I used 99 kbps(?)) The only pain is that the memory stick cannot hold an entire book but you can download portions.

... and Goldwave lets you split these files easily and efficiently.

Yes, it is very, very easy. It would just be better if we didn't have to do this. It is not a Goldwave drawback (I love the program), but rather the size of the memory sticks and the MP3 files.....

I don't think this helps with Audible.com. They have their own format. I wish it would. I download a lot from them and have to carry around a separate player. How nice it would be just to have my NX 70. If I am wrong let me know, or if there is another way.

I promise you, Goldwave will convert Audible.com files and the NX will play them. The problem though is that the conversion to MP3 files bloats the files so that not as much will fit onto the MS. My Audible player has 64 meg and I can't get nearly as many books on a 128 meg MS.

It does work. You're right, but it does take up space. Is there any way to make them smaller?

In another part of the forum, someone is saying that 32kbps, mono, can fit 11 or 12 hours on a 128 MB memory stick. I have not tried the audio quality on this yet, but it sounds as if it is worth a try.

whenever i open an audible-format file (type 2), goldwave keeps on asking me what type it is... what selection shoudl i choose? what's more, could anyone give a more detailed process on how to convert audible-content into mp3?
