Well, I recently purchased a 256mb Memory Stick Pro-- the prices finally came down enough to justify the purchase, in my mind. Up until now, I have been getting by with the ol' standard blue 128mb Memory Stick.
My main reason for purchasing was the added space for the large video files which I seem to be downloading a lot of recently. The 128mb X 2 sticks simply don't work b/c what you really have is 2 128 mb sticks with the over-rated (in my opinion) convenience of having them in one package and being able to "organize" your files (as if the file management systems don't allow you to do that already). If you have a video over, say 120mb, you are out of luck.
So, I am happy to report that the Pro stick has been excellent and really delivers. It also appears much faster. But not always trusting advertised features...I decided to conduct an informal test. I backed up the entire Contents of my NX70V onto both my old 128mb stick and the new Pro one. Results?
Backing up 9874kb of data took 1 minute 43 seconds using the Pro stick, and 2 min 28 seconds using the old stick. That is a significant improvement, and mind you, reflects a write speed. My understanding is that the read speed is even more of an improvement.
all around...money well spent.
