View Full Version : NX70V, Video Alarm
I love this little device. Bought one of those refurbs from overstock.com that turned out to be a new clie. Couldn't be happier.
Got a question for all you clever folks though. Is there any application that will use video clips as the alarm, instead of sounds? I think it would be great to have a video of an attractive secretary saying, "Don't be late for such and such..."
Or if you have pets, you could have your dog bark to wake you up.
Futuristic is it not?

RNM,
Good idea. I would love to do this same. Encouraging the idea is sometimes the first step in encouraging a person talented in code to write a program, if there isn't one already. It would be nice to set a humourous video clip as an alarm. :-)

Actually this is possible, very possible. I have a friend who works for a development company that is just getting into Palm stuff. He has figured out a way to write a palm version of macro commands that can emulate, key strokes, stylus moves, clicks, etc. He actually wrote a program that works just like an alarm that allows me to set up Auto Aol to run at a specific time. I enter the time and the macro launches aol and runs auto aol (i have to leave my phone plugged in or the wifi card in).
He said it would be EASY to associate it with an alarm that would trigger the launch of a video. They are working on making it very extensive and work with your computer as well. Dont want to spill the beans but basically it will have a Windows component and a Palm component both will run auto apps (like if you have email, TV listings or webpages you DL every day) and then auto sync. There is also going to be a complete back-up feature that would save a record of every hotsync and let you restore any one any time you wanted. Still a ways off but I will keep you advised...

Sounds very interesting so look forward to news in the future. Having a point in time recovery facility would be great as well
