hi
i am using the latest cf driver from eruware..
i havent been able to hot sync avantgo(which is on the memstick) since i upgraded my cf driver to the latest one..(i uninstalled the previous one and then loaded the new one)
avantgo had no problems with the old cf driver...so after i installed the latest one avantgo has not synced thereafter...so i uninstalled the latest driver and reinstalled version 1 of cf driver and avantgo synced..
so i think i can say that somewhere there is a conflict between avantgo and cf driver
has anyone else had this problem
thanks
This was a known issue.... which version of the Avantgo are you using? The latest version is Palm OS 5 BETA (5.2 Build 83). you can directly hotsync avantgo data to your MS, but will take a long time 10mins.
BETA version for OS 5, saving to memory stick
Click on the AG Connect icon. Click on the settings, and then check the box next to Use Card. elect the card to put the content on in the drop-down list to the right of the Use Card. Click OK to save the changes. The next time you sync, content will be saved to the memory card that you selected.
maybe its already discussed here: i had a similar conflict with documents to go while the cf was inserted (automount on). as soon as i took off the cf i could hotsync my document files.
probably this bug belongs to documents to go cause they do not support multiple extension cards???
I get that problem too, fogg, everytime I do a hotsync, I find that I'd have to disable my CF first inorder to have everything properly sync with my PC.

I did all this but it's still not working. When I was in AGconnect I checked the box for "use card," but the drop-down arrow that presumably should list my MS was blank--ie, there was no card recognized. Is that the problem--should there be a drop-down option for MS? Anyone else have this problem or know how I can fix it?

I've used all versions on CF driver and I thought I was out trouble until I discovered this afternoon that had TWO palm directories in my CF card, both similar (same size and same number of files). When I tried to delete one using file manager in ZLauncher it corrupted both directories so had to reformat CF card. I was using DUAL mode (CF =primary).
Don't know what happened but I'm still happy with the driver, I think it has opened doors that were completed closed to Clie users giving them new alternatives to enjoy multimedia to the maximum with a low budget.
Congratulations ERUWARE!

2xPALM folders have been a known issue for the eruware driver ver.1.1.0 as well as ver1.1.2. It was suppose to be much more stable with the new ver.1.2, yet I guess it might be too soon to comment much for the new driver1.2 since it has only been released for less than a week.
Sorry to hear about your case with your CF Card. Hope you didn't loose important infomation contained in it. :(
But I like your possitive attitude, that's the crucial key to having a better driver in the future. :)
For me personally, I always do a backup of my CF's data on my PC, if something goes wrong with the CF, I can always reformat & just copy all those files back to the CF. :)
Oh, by the way, the 2xPALM folders you had, did you try to check it out first by connecting to your PC? It might have saved your format. I use a 6-in-1 adaptor, so I connect directly to the PC & delete one of those PALM folders, also the same message shows that "The folder you're deleting isn't empty!", then somehow after this message, the CF reversed back to normal with only 1 single PALM folder, & with all the correct sub-folders with all the original data in place. Thought this might help you out in the future as reference. just my little experience. I've tried this methos twice and still works.

Where is Avantgo & AG-Connect located? Which file is on your CLIE & which is on your CF/MS?
Did you have both CF & MS mounted at the same time, or was this under dual mode?
For myself, I only do what works and try to avoid running into problems. Without using the CF Utility from eruware, I store my Avantgo with PowerRUN & move Avantgo to RAM only when Hotsync. & move it back to MS to free up RAM. AG-Connect is in RAM full time, can't get avantgo to hotsync without it.
& while I hotsync I pull out the CF from the slot 1st.
you can try taking out the CF 1st and try the settings again with stored on MS function.
*note: you have to give your MS a volume name first otherwise it might not show up in the AG-Connect dialogue
Also with the avantgo contents stored in MS it'll take a long time to Hotsync. You'll see after you get the correct setting to the MS. Hope this helps.

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">AvantGo and AGconnect are located in the unit’s RAM. All the files are on my Clie RAM, and nothing is on MS. I checked the MS using Clie Files and did not see on the MS any of the three program files (AvantGo, libsmal, or mobilelink), nor the content files beginning with “AG…”

The only thing I use that slot for is the WL100 (which does not work either, but that’s another story :(). I don’t think I gave the MS a “volume name” as I do not know how to do that. And indeed I don’t think the card is showing up in the AGconnect dialogue box.

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Maybe that’s it, how do it give the MS a “volume name”?I don’t mind the long sync time, but I just want it to work with MS because I need the RAM space on my Clie. Please help
You can change the Name of the MS by any file manager application. Even the ClieFiles!
Run ClieFiles, you'll see your MS with all the contents there.
Click on Properties, on top of the screen a Tools menu appears, then you'll see a column "Media Infomation". Tap on that, then you'll see your all the information about your MS, there's a "Change Card Name" function there, that's where you change the card name.

You can use the Card Info application to change the name.
All you need in RAM is the AG Connect, the rest goes on the card. In AG Connect, use the pull down menu and select card. This is only applicable to OS5.
The post was hard to read with the html coding :)

Larry:
So you're saying that the only file that has to be in RAM is AGConnect and the rest could be in MS such as Advantgo application and the DB AGDocsNG ? Thank you

That's right, with the exception of some small db files, the Main app goes into the Palm-Launcher folder and the rest go into it's own AvantGo folder.
Initially you may find a large db file, compare with what's in the AvantGo folder and delete the duplicate RAM file.
Give the card a name, my original was card :)
Then select card in the pull down menu in the AG Connect file.
Yep, I now have the avantgo in Launcher folder, and works well. :)
AG Connect is in RAM, and I just store db files in RAM as well, since that should save me some time, rather than saving the dbs in MS. can't afford the wait. :D

I was only talking about the db's which are settings only. Of cousre if you want to put the big enchilada there, that's fine by me.
big enchilada there, that's fine by me.
:D
I got little confused there... anyway, I'm having my big enchilada in my RAM. :D

Ok, you folks who are running with the Avantgo APP on the card, ... Are you running the OS5 beta version of Avantgo? The docs say you cannot yet run the app on the card. ... ...and fiddler that I am, I am ashamed to say that I have not tried to run it on the card anyway yet.

Be sure to read the beta news at the top of the channel list (if you still have an older sync in place. They say that not releasing the device ram is a known problem, but they give you a manual workaround step-by-step to release that ram
yep, it's stated on the beta news of the latest version of avantgo for OS5, but I find it too troublesome to deal with so I just keep avantgo in "Launcher" folder, & keeps the AG-Connect with the data dbs in RAM. :)
