Here is a link to a nice review I found on the Game Controller attached to the NX.

Looks nice.
I have been tempted by it ever since I got my NX.
But those vaja cases keep calling my name and I can't really afford both.
In Canada the game controller is $70
Such decisions.

Thats a really detailed review. Helps with my decision to buy one. I am thinking of getting the NES emulator and the game controller would be a must.

Does this controller work with the NX series? I saw it in BestBuy the other day for $29.95, but while it included compatibility with the NR on the box, the NX was not listed?

They are compatible after you install the game controller patch for NX's from the Sony Support Site:

That sounds expensive. You can get a PlayStation 2 controller for about $20, which has analogue joysticks. Just a comparison of prices...

Canadian's always get the short end of the stick!

These work GREAT on the NX. I bought mine for my NR, and recently got my NX, and with the driver update, it is perfect.
The review seemed so complete, but it left out or skimmed over one MAJOR feature of the controller...

IT FUNCTIONS AS ALTERNATE DEVICE HARD BUTTONS!!!!

The biggest dissapointment I have had with the NR/NX is the buttons, hidden away under the clamshell above the keyboard, recessed into the surface, are almost useless, unless i want to carefully watch each button as i press it, so I can find it and not press the wrong one.

The game controller fixes this, even though you do have to have the clamshell open at least enough to get your fingers to the buttons (if you want it firmly mounted on the unit while you use it).

For me, having the device buttons so that they can be actually used, makes this a worthwhile purchase, even if it were a much higher pprice.

Definately use the safety cord!

I originally attached it to see the thing hooked up for novelty reasons, but during a zealous game of Defender (from Midway Arcade Pack) on my NX70V in an insurance adjuster's waiting room I suddenly found myself holding the gamepad . . . with my clie dangling safely from the cord instead of hitting the tile floor.

I hate the little "clasp-dongle" hanging from my clie during non use and always take the time to unthread it, but MAN what a close call!

Hey thanks, I bid it on right now.

Been using it with the awesome GTS racing game from Astraware. It's really the only reasonable way to play this game. Also works great with the Midway games, Defender, Joust, etc.

The controller is great, and makes games play like a Gameboy. I finally got Rayman to work on my NX and without the controller I would not have made it as far as I have, the moves are too precise and the regular built-in buttons are no good at all.

Also good for Sonic the Hedgehog, but the game is quirky and hard to control him anyway.

Hi,

I made a search on this forum because Rayman 1.4, that I bought in 2001 for a M505, won't run on my NX70V. Apparently you solved that problem : how did you do that ?

I bought my game controller for $9.99 from

http://www.shopharmony.com/product.asp?i=SONPEGAGC10

shipping was to hawaii and the grand total was about $16, and they do ship to canada. it took about 5 working days to get delivered but i wasn't home the first time so the postwoman came back the next day . . . .

Has anyone ever tried to play Elite using the game controller?

Does the games controller work on the full NX range, the picture shows it attached to the NX70 but will it work on the NX80 which I think is a little thicker in size? Has anyone tried it on the NX80?

For all those of you who were saying you couldn't afford it......I suppose you have already seen this, but if you haven't ....its not a scam....
mine works perfectly

Oh and PS...mine works fine on the nx80v...you do have to install the driver from the sony website though....
Attaches to both the screen and keyboard...I personlly prefer the keyboard because I don't like letting that hinge take all the load of thw weight of the clie and intensive gaming action.

I got mine from the same place and I'm also in Hawaii. The shipping time was horrible I thing it took a month for them to actually ship not counting how long it took.

If you're going to get one of these things, you MUST install the updated driver from the Sony website! I spent hours installing all the CF stuff on my NX70 only to have the HotSynch hang up for no apparent reason! Soft reset and try again, and again, and again.....
I eventually (more through luck than judgement) found out it was the Game Controller software?????
Don't ask me, I've no idea why!

I have the NX60 and it fits perfectly on the keyboard in clamshell mode, BUT when in tablet mode (screen down) it doesn't feel secure and sometimes gets stuck and hard to take off without wiggling and some force that i'm pretty sure can't be good for the lcd . . . .
Anyway, i can't find any games i like really with the game controller . . . . i was thinking about one of them emulators but i don't think the controller works with them.
do they have any emulators that have games like bust-a-move, mario, or most of them gameboy games and work with the controller?

as far as i know NesEM supports the controller, the main point i got it is for emulators... because it is nearly impossible to play any of them on the clie without it

If don't like nesem they got Gizmo over there too. Gizmo also supports the GameCon and plays GameGear games.

So who's got more, better games?
i never really got into the gamegear thing cause first time i tried it was with a sonic and i got sick of how high he jumped and how the screen had to scroll per jump . . . .

and i'm sure there's a thread with places to get games, but what've you guys found the most reliable?

soulreaver99

Well there are a lot of classic games that are on the Nintendo, can't go wrong there with games like Zelda and Contra. Some of the music and sound don't emulate well on NesEM, but u can have MP3s playing in the background on your games.

When I was younger I had a GameGear so I'm used to those games. They bring back memories, so I got the Gizmo. Can we talk about where to get ROMZ?

That playing MP3's in the back sounds like it kills batteries. The GC10 using power then the MS slot too.

search on yahoo for roms or download them off the newgroups. don't think the mods will appreciate us posting links to rom sites.

I can't get any sound to emulate on my NX70. How did you do it?

PBM did you see my thread I put up before you bought the GC-10 and that influenced you to buy it from them?
