I'm going to get my NX70V in a day or so. Yay!!

I have a few questions...

1) How big are the Kinoma video files for the NX70? I tried to convert a small file and calculated around 190Mb/hour. Is that in the ball park? I assume that video converted to 480x320 is larger than the 320x240?

2) How do the videos look played off MS or CF? Is the video smooth?

Thanks! --Rolands

Playing Kinoma movies off MS & CF would be no problem at all, video playback is smooth on both storage media.
(using Kinoma player you don't have to worry about the issue with "MS Masquerading with Trick mode" since Kinoma can play movie off both cards.)

Although Kinoma supports 480x320 complete full screen, you might want to compare the video quality with the NX's MoviePlayer, the video quality is much more chrisp! :)
Well, personal preferences since the ImageConverter (MoviePlayer supporting software) is quite particular at converting different types of movie clips. (eg. DivX, avi with different codecs, etc...) Some find the KinomaProducer much productive.

oh, MoviePlayer playback quality is the same on MS & CF.
(Except on CFs you'd have to do press "STOP" if you want to "seek" forward/backward through the movie, otherwise MoviePlayer will freeze & you'd have to do a soft-reset.)

Other factors are "Brand" of CF as well as "size" of card. (eg. 256MB CF can store higher quality clips, whereas the bigger 512MB/1G CF can only support standard/low res mode.

So Eddy what you're saying is that MoviePlayer gives a higher quality picture than Kinoma?

Well, given the choice, I'd have to say yes, since I've tried so many kinoma movies on my NX70V & with the exact video clip in Movieplayer I can see the obvious difference. Say... least with MoviePlayer, I can choose not to have a full screen mode, then displaying the original movie file in 320x240. I wouldn't mind having a better quality picture with a little compromise with the full screen size feature.
Whereas on kinoma it just display it full size, & seems that you can't change any settings.
But I also hear that Kinoma can have just as good of a quality, or even better, just that the file size would be bigger than normal. I wouldn't mind if that's the case, since kinoma does have its' advantage where it can run off a big size CF Card such as a 1G CF, and not having to worry about whether the *.MQV file would work off the CF in MoviePlayer.
But then again, that's my personal opinion. :)

Besides the video quality, I think audio quality is also important. I've tried Kinoma on my NZ, I use Kinoma Producer and adjusted the settings for much higher video quality (near to MoviePlayer), but audio part, I can say, is very terrible if you're using OS 5 CLIE.
