Hi. I am upgrading from my Palm IIIc, and am considering a Sony T615 or T665. At first I was leaning towards the 665, but then I changed to considering the 615. Due to what I've read, I think the battery life is better. But on the forums, I've noticed that several people have traded in their 615's for a 665. If you've gone from the 615 to 665, are you happy with that? Tell me the pros and cons.
thanks...

That is a question, you have to awnser for yourself.
I upgraded from a IIIc to a T675c (identical to 665) and noticed that the battery life is much shorter.
But it is not critical and there are emergency chargers for this purpose.
That is the only conn for the 675. It has a better Display, faster processor and can play your music.
The SJ Series could be interesting for you but I don't know what you are really looking for.

I have a T615 and love it. I dont listen to mp3s on it (have a standalone player). The battery life is about 4 and 1/2 hours. The screen isnt as good as the T665 but it suits me fine - I will admit I wish I had the faster processor and mem stick access. It really comes down to a decision
T615 - better battery, no mp3 (unless you buy the adapter), slower processor, dim screen with muted reds
T665 - crappy battery life, mp3, good screen, faster processor
I guess it would really depend on the price difference and how long you will be force to go between charges. If you can afford either and can charge everyday go for the T665 - if you cant charge everyday get the T615...the best PDA will do you no good if it doesnt have enough battery power to last you a day.

As far as battery life is concerned, there isn't much difference between the T615 and T665.
T665
-Fixed the little quirks of the T615 color map.
-It's processor is 66Mhz compared to 33Mhz in the T615 (as well as of most other models, Sony or Palm)
-Has a headset jack so the internal speaker can rest once in a while, and can play MP3's
T615
-Phased out already (same as the SJ series, although it's just a matter of time till the T665 and even other new models get axed).
That's the only problem with Sony in general. They phase out new models after just a few months now. It's probably their new stupid "marketing gimmick" to make us saps continue upgrading.
My recommendation?
just stay cool, dude.

I just went to the 665 from a 615. I don't see any difference in battery life. If you play mp3's with the backlight off it doesn't discharge that quick. The screen is much brighter and the processor is faster on the 665, and it now has been discounted in price. Any way you go you will not have made a bad choice with either one! Welcome to the world of clies.

Thanks everyone for your input.
tsuribito, you said:
"I upgraded from a IIIc to a T675c (identical to 665) and noticed that the battery life is much shorter.

With my Palm IIIc I have an adapter that will recharge when away, for example on a trip. T675 does not have this option? And tsuribito, since you had a Palm IIIc, did you notice much difference in battery life between the 2?
As far as recharging...I sync my Palm everynight on the cradle. So, I am use to that. But, I would like to know, on an equal basis, exactly how much longer the T615 battery lasts.
Still sitting on the fence...

You can recharge the Clies just as the IIIc
When I first took it to school I noticed that the batteries went empty.
Never had that Problem with my IIIc.
But when you don't use the Backlight when you don't need it, the batteries live long enough.
