i need SplashMoney (or anything that'll sync w/quicken) and SplashID (maybe will use YAPS instead, tho)...
but the shopper and viewer apps are no big need for me... so, is it worth shelling out 40 bucks?
I thought so...make sure you look around. I heard someone say they found SplachWallet on sale for like $20.

I use Splash ID and SplashPhoto quite a bit. I haven't used Splash Money yet. I bought Splashwallet before it included Splash Shopper and I like HandyShopper so much, I doubt I would have changed anyway.

Yes, I think it is and I do use Splash Money, it does Sync with Quicken, but only one way, Clie to Quicken.

I use SplashID extensively, but haven't started using SplashMoney yet. I used to use SplashPhoto but almost exclusively use AcidImage now. Still, it's a great suite, especially if you can get a deal on it. I got it for free with a Handago promo when I bought my Clie. :)

I have recently started using the SplahWallet items. The following is what I thought was very cparable to Splash.
SplashMoney - BankBook4
SplashPhoto - AcidImage
SplashID - eWallet
I am still torn between which ones I like best.

SplashID is one of my "indispensibles!" I use SplashPhoto too. Not sure if it would win over other viewers but it meets my needs. The desktop conversion tool is fast and easy to use. I don't use Money because I use Pocket Quicken (syncs both ways). And, my wife does most of the shopping so Shopper is not a big deal to me. Let me clarify that last statement. The only shopping I know how to do is "point-n-click" shopping! :D Anyway, it's a great suite with frequent FREE UPGRADES!

Oh yeah, thanks for the reminder, wellsjs. I use SplashShopper all the time, too. :)

Why buy when things are free?
STRIP (Password storage, AES-256 encrypted, source available for peer review)
CryptoPad 4.09 (Encrypted memopad, no hires+ support yet tho)

SplashID is much more than a password keeper. I looked at the screenshots for STRIP, and SplashID blows it away. I guess it depends on what you need.

I don't mind paying if I get a fair value in return. The idea that developers may make some money on their product, gives them incentive to produce more and better products. BTW, I once was paid just for showing up to work, so I guess I can give a little back :)

To me, one of their greatest assets is their terrific customer service response. I had questions/complaints and they were QUICKLY answered & handled. BEFORE I REGISTERED. Think about that for a minute. I registered SplashShopper before it had a desktop. I use it for everything now....DVD lists, book lists, packing lists....I could go on and on...

hherbzilla... thanks for the advice.
what exactly makes splashid better than an encryption program like yaps?

I haven't used yaps, but it does not include a desktop component, which Splash ID does and I find very convenient. Also, if you have a NR/NX, Splash ID also supports hires+. There is a desktop viewer for yaps, but it costs about as much as you pay for Splash ID in Splashwallet. I like the idea of having an encrypted copy of all my data on my desktop, in case I were to lose my Clie:( .

Check out the SplashData website to get more details on SplashID (http://www.splashdata.com/splashid/index.htm).
I use it mostly for serial numbers for all of my software. I have fields for: software title, purchase price, purchase date, reseller, serial #, and a notes field for other stuff.

They already have templates setup for bank accts, birthdays, calling cards, email accts, frequent flyer info, vehicle info, voice mail, etc.

I use MS Money and would be interested in knowing if there are other Splashmoney users that also use MS Money. I'm trying to decide between Splashmoney and Ultrasoft's Money program. Anyone have any experience with this?
Regards...

I've seen several that sync with money... just go to www.palmgear.com and do a search for "money," and it should give you a nice long list. but i can't tell you which ones are best.
anyone have thoughts on SplashImage vs. AcidImage?

I definitely think Splash Wallet is worth the money for a few reasons:
#1 They have Mac versions of the desktops!
#2 SplashID & its desktop are great (#2reason I bought it)
#3 SplashShopper has an easy-to-use desktop for creating longer lists and databases. I used HandyShopper (a wonderful app, but the not-free desktop isn't as nice).
I don't use SplashMoney (been using PocketMoney for 2 years) or Photo (yet). SplashMOney looks very similar to PocketMoney, but I don't feel like moving the data. They both create QIFs for import into Quicken/Money.
I say, go for it. I wish I would have known about the PalmGear deal a month ago :( Oh well, I got 10% off.

Regards... The major advantage of Ultrasoft Money is that it's the only Palm app that syncs directly with MS Money. All you do is hit the HotSync button, and it's all taken care of for you. With all the other apps, you have to do a hotsync, then open MS Money, do an Import of the QIF file that the hotsync left on the desktop, then do an export of the QIF file when you're done, and do another hotsync. Seems like too much of a pain to me.

thanks for the info... this brings me to another question:
does SplashMoney actually sync with quicken, or is it a convoluted process to import QIFs (not that that would really change my plan, there's no way i'm forking out 40 bucks for pocket quicken, plus the upgrade to the latest desktop quicken).

OK, SplashWallet Suite
SplashPhoto is not as good as AcidImage, but the desktop software is handy, and it's certainly good enough to consider, especially since it's cheaper once you include it in the suite.
SplashShopper is slightly better than HandyShopper. The handheld portion is probably not quite as good, but again, the desktop software helps set it apart.
SplashID is a very good piece of software. I prefer e-Wallet, and truly think it's a better program, but it is quite a bit more expensive, and upgrades come at a cost after the first six months.
SplashMoney would be nice, but without two-way syncing with Quicken, I find it FAR too annoying to be of any use. I prefer Pocket Quicken.
SplashClock (which I think is now included in the suite) I have no experience with, so I'll leave that to other reviewers.
So there you have it. The SplashWallet Suite is definitely a very good choice for the cost-conscious consumer. There are very good alternative apps in almost every category, but the price makes up the difference. And SplashData's customer support truly is great.

Splash Clock is not included with Wallet. I bought it separate. It works as advertised, but I wouldn't call it a very useful app. I guess I just don't like leaving my display on for hours, even in the cradle.

I agree with Narniahopper. The suite is a great buy and the apps are top notch. However, there are arguably slightly better apps than some of the individual ones.
I too have e-Wallet. Although the display is more informative, IMHO, the drawback is the cost and upgrades for e-Wallet (they say they do support previous versions, however). Another alternative to SplashWallet is MyCheckBook. It's almost the same and this exports to QIF and it's a freebie.
Acidimage is by far a better image viewer than SplashPhoto, it just does more period.
SplashShopper, well...HandyShopper is free!

Like I said, I haven't tried SplashMoney, but it appears to work nearly identical to PocketMoney. With PM, I have the Hotsync conduit set to make a QIF of new transactions everytime I sync. It puts it in the "From Palm" folder in my Users folder. When I open Quicken, I import that QIF. Quite simple, but it does take more steps than Pocket Quicken, which is more seamless. Like you, I balk at paying $40.00 for a Palm app.
A key thing: I ONLY enter transactions on my Clie, and use Quicken to budget and do reports. If you want to enter in Quicken and have your Money app match, you'll have to export your Quicken transaction as a QIF and put it in the "To Palm" folder. It is easy, but it adds an extra step and can increase the likelihood of duplicate transactions. I take the easy way out :)
No matter what Money app you choose, I can't recommend personal finance on your Clie enough! Especially if you use a debit card for your checking account.

I agree completely, and I don't use a debit card. But entering receipts into my Clie on the spot saves me at least a half hour on the weekends paying bills!!
On a separate note, I decided to try SplashID based on the recommendations in this thread, and it really is great. I had been using Yaps for a year or two, but SplashID has a lot of features that are just more handy, such as the templates for categories and high-res+ support.
Since I was trying out this kind of app, I also tested out Ultrasoft's new product DataShield concurrently. As of now, it's no contest. As I mentioned earlier, Splash ID has high-res+ support and the interface is much better IMO. Also, DataShield currently doesn't have a desktop version (though it's coming), which really is very handy and a big plus for SplashID.
Then, I had decided I was going with SplashID so I tried to delete DataShield. I couldn't at all. Even using Jackflash, which often deletes apps when all other file managers fail. I ended up trying to switch a DataShield attribute using Filez so that I could delete it, but all that did was cause a hard reset. Grrrrrr.
So, thanks for all the info on SplashID!! Truly great product.
