I do not know about moving AvantGo to MS while you do a hotsync channel update...
BUT if you refresh your channels wirelessly (WLAN) then you just mark "safe to card" in AGConnect before you update...

Then compare the files you have on your MS with the ones you have in RAM, delete the duplicates in RAM and to free even more RAM you can move the main AvantGo app into the "palm/launcher" folder...

I cleared almost 2mb this way, but be prepared that it will launch slower and scrolling the page needs more time too (due to reading time from MS) and last but not least it will drain more power!

Hope that helps

cheers Nicolas

Hotsync is much slower too . . . if you do it that way.

You may want to take a look at Avantage by toysoft, inc.
www.toysoft.ca
It allows you to move all your AvantGo files to the memory stick. Then when you sync it pulls the needed items internal, syncs them (updates the articles, etc...) then moves the files back to the card. The movement is very quick. You just have to remember that when you launch AvantGo to use it, you have to have enough internal memory space available to have those channels move back.
It would be cool for it to read the articles from the card, just the articles I want to read. But I don't mind. I have to keep a chunk of internal memory open when I want to launch Mapopolis from the card. Now I can have both available to me.

Try updateing to the newest avantgo beta for OS 5 it will let you. My chanells are all on my card. There is a check box under the options menu.... Server Preferences....settings....Use Card:

I am using Avantgo version: 5.2 Build 83

It is VFS aware.

As Martha says: That's a good thing!

I have my channels and the Avantgo application in Memory Stick, but believe me is the slowest hotsync operation ever. I'm moving back to RAM. 10 minutes is a looong wait time...

Here is how to do it with avant go(at least this is what has worked for me)... You can move the avant go app. itself to memory stick BUT you MUST leave AGConnect in RAM and you must name your memory stick.

To name a MS you  launch Card Info. then choose menu and choose rename card.

After you have named your MS, launch AGConnect and choose settings... Make sure there is a check mark in the box for Use card and make sure the card name is the name of the MS that you just set. hit OK and make sure that Update During Next Sync is checked. HotSync and you should be good to go.
That is all you need. No powerun No advantage. No need for anything!!

That should be it...if  I missed anything I apologize.

Like I stated above..this is what works for me, in the cradle or wireless.

Good Luck.;)

Right, but if you have large clips to be downloaded, it takes forever to store on the memory stick, that's all :(

The new beta (only OS5) which also allows you to run in Hi-res+ should allow you to check put files on ms, but they say the program will not run from ms. I am using it thus. The place where you tell it to put the files on ms is in AG-Connect, not the avantgo app.
Read the OS5 beta news at the top of the channel list while you are looking at pages, for special instructions.

It is a long time for the dl though.

Removing the space from RAM is a known problem, and they give a step by step
workaround. You may need to do this more than once. I had to perform
the process twice before it took, for me.
