A friend of mine was just put on insulin. I know that there are some Palm OS diabetic management software programs. Can anyone recommend a good one?

i'm not entirely sure, but the Clinical Medicine series has a Clinical Endocrinology application. That series is supposed to be very practical for managment issues, and may give you guidelines for insulin use.
you might also try the ADA website to see if they have any downloads.
this website has some links to medical software:

Hi,
Go to www.palmgear.com and search for diabetes. There are about 40 prgrams listed. Many allow the person to record intake and med use and record glucose levels.

I know of a HanDBase applet that helps with some of this:
Diabet DB - This applet take over your diabet supervision notebook. You can put your blood sugar level 3 times per day , your insulin dose and events .
Insulin Pump Therapy Log - The main purpose for this database is to log each Blood Glucose Test, detail list of Foods consumed, total number of Carbohydrates for the food consumed and on top of this calculate the total number of Bolus Units Of insulin to program into your insulin Pump.
I did a seardch on Palmgear for "insulin" and I got soem fo the follwoing links:

I ahave absolutely no experience with the apps, so I couldn't really recommensd any of them, sorry. You are going to still have to download and try them out.
Best of luck to you.
Alicia LePard has reviewed the Therasense Freestyle tracker on NMM Mobile - http://www.newmediamedicine.com/mobile/reviewtherasense.htm
She seems to think its a pretty good option for patients with diabetes.

Thanks all.
We just downloaded Diabetes Pilot -- it has a 15 day trial. We'll see how she likes it before registering.

I'm also a type 1 diabetic and have been using diabetes pilot (http://www.diabetespilot.com) since June 2002. I found it to be a great program at first because of the built in food database.
Then I found CalorieKing's food database (http://www.calorieking.com)and have been using that to count carbs. It's much more elaborate than the one built into diabetes pilot.

Wayne, I HIGHLY recommend CalorieKing for your PDA which you can get at www.calorieking.com for counting carbs, calories, fat, and such for your diet. It's helped me a great deal. It also lets you plan out your meals on a daily basis and it calculates that total carbs, calories, fat, ect... for you. You can also follow your weight with a built-in weigh in function.
Hope that helps further!
Also, get as informed as you can about Diabetes. It takes quite awhile to get used to counting carbs and watching what you eat and taking the right ammount of insulin when eating at restaurants. CalorieKing really helps you there. Check it out!

AtomicClie:
Thank you for the info and i'm looking at the site right and that is what I was looking for. Yeah all my doctors seem to tell me that Diabetes is extremely tough to treat. Once again Thanks for the great reply and I will put it to great use.
Peace,

Have a look at Universal Tracking System
http://utracksys.com
It can track medical tests, diet and nutrition, weight, blood pressure and pulse, stress level, activity, ...
BTW, it can be useful for doctors also as it can track time and things of any nature.
