i just got my n710c in the mail yesterday, and did the n760c update within the first 30 minutes out of the box. everything was working great last night, and even this morning, but for some reason now my mp3 software doesnt show any music tracks from the same memory stick, that i havent even taken out since i first loaded it. what could be wrong? the only thing i did was put a battery tracker on it, and then i deleted it when i realized the audio player wasnt working. any thoughts?
charlie
What directory did you put the MP3 files at?

i figured it out, i accidently removed the update from my palm for the audio player, just reinstalled,it works great.thanks.
Here is my list of MS directories for your reference:
1. JPG for Sony Camera: DCIM/100MSDCF
2. PalmReader (eBooks): /Palm/Books
3. Launching apps from MS: /Palm/launcher
4. BackupBuddy VFS (RAM backup to MS): /Palm/Backup
5. PiDirectII (file manager for huge database, e.g. I have 20 MB maps): /Palm/PiDirectII
6. G-Movie or Kinoma Player: /Palm/Programs/gMovie
7. HRCapt DA (screenshot): /Palm/Programs/HRCapt
8. Memoru (drawing app): /Palm/Programs/Memoru
9. MiD (dictionaries, mine is about 18 MB): /Palm/Programs/MiD
10.MP3s (I have 2 of 128MB MSs to fit 42 tracks, 175 minutes on each MS) : /Palm/Programs/MSAudio
11.MSBackup (RAM backup to MS): /Palm/Programs/MSBackup
12.MSDict (another dictionary app, about 8 MB): /Palm/Programs/MSDict
13.PGPocket (PGP pictures): /Palm/Programs/PictureGear
14.QuickOffice (spreadsheet and word apps): /Palm/Programs/QuickOffice
I use McFile and FileZ to manage my MS and RAM files and deleted MSGate and many other files that I don't need out of ROM with JackSprat. I freed up about 1.5MB of ROM and use JackFlash to move usefull apps that would not be deleted with hard reset.

thats some good info, we are going to have to meet up sometime so you can show me all your tricks. i think we live pretty close to each other. thanks for the tips.

Sure. I live 50 miles south of Houston. If you happen to be in the neighborhood, just PM me or vice versa if I happen to be around Dallas.
You're in the right place as far as learning Palm tricks. I got them all from hanging around in this site.
Since you're listening MP3 with your Clie, if you don't have Audio Control DA (ACDA), it is a must have DA. I hardly need the AudioPlayer anymore after using ACDA. Since it's a DA, it has a small foot print (15KB) and you can launch it on top of any app (sort of multi-tasking) and it's free.
I like to use it while I'm on the go and don't want to go to the hassle of entering the security code. Just launch it over the System Lockout screen and control it (volume, track selection, start/stop) with hard buttons. Unless you want to check out other apps while listening MP3 in the background, you don't want to unlock the security anyway and keep the rest of the system secure, away from on-lookers. Spradlinb has a really nice tutorial for ACDA here (http://www.launchplug.com/AudioControlDA.html).
Enjoy your new toy :)

Yea, DAs and hacks are cool stuff. Other DAs that I use:
1. CalCal for pop-up calculator.
2. daMemoPad for pop-up Memo.
3. HRCaptDA for capturing your display in bmp (screenshot).
4. LClipDA for cut/copy/paste up to 10 notes.
5. ResetDA for reseting Palm OS w/o poking hole in the back.
6. StopWatch for timing with Clie on or off.
7. SystemAnalyzer for checking saved and unsaved preferences.
8. VolumeDA for turn on/off system volume with auto resume.
9. Call Lookup DA for pop-up phone/address search.
Cool Hacks:
1. EasyLaunch for launching apps/DAs with hard button or pen swipe.
2. McPhling for going back to previous app (similar to Internet Explorer's Back button) regardless the apps in RAM or MS.
3. Crash for logging system crash and auto soft reseting the system.
4. MSDict Hack for launch MSDict dictionary.
5. MiD for launching MiD dictionary.
6. DAlauncher for listing and launching DAs.
7. ClockPop for flashing clock, appointments, battery status, etc. with press and hold of a hard button regardless the Clie is on or off.
Now I can leave books, games, music CD player, calculator, dictionaries at home.
Try some of those and see if you like them. You can search them in this site, LaunchPlug, PalmGear, or nXtClieClub. You'll have lots of long nights playing with them. Majority of them are freewares. There are lots of nice developers out there in the Palm world.

Hi, I just purchased the N710C. How do I update the OS to 4.1? I'm sorry, this must have been asked a thousand times before, but I can't find the thread which states how to do it. Help!
I made a quick search in this forum and find
this thread (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=785). Check the message and link provided by GeekGod to gradiusnet.com (http://www.gradiusnet.com/gradius/clie/upgrade710cto760c.htm). Like he said, do it at your own risk.
