Is there any difference but the price? Why sony distinguishs their product by its price like that?

Chao.

Because there are people who believe that you get a better product by buying from the company that designed it. I guess in some sectors, this is actually true, including some in the computer arena, but with data storage, it's pretty much a wash - except for the price.

A few have had issues with the Lexar's physical attributes, like the memory stick popping out with no warning! ! !

Poor quality control, my advice, if it means anything, get the SanDisk or Sony instead!

In the beginning of last year I got a 128Mb Lexar MS and it looked so similar to the Sony one that I think it was made by Sony...

Now, in December I got another one, and it looks different. The purple plastic is in a different color, and the finish is a lot rougher, I think it is not made in Japan like the first one that I got. But still works perfectly.

No, not that I am aware of. For 7 months or so that I have been following the forums here, I can relate to what others have commented on. Of course one is always welcome to search back and get the same info :). What I am trying to say, is that I don't make this stuff up.

I have a mix of Sony, Lexar and SanDisk MS units and have had no problems. I have used Lexar for a long time in CF form in cameras and have been happy with their operation.

I have 2 Lexar (also have several Sony ones) MS now and have had no problems with either and got both at great deals (almost 50% cost of a Sony MS). My latest is the 512MB Lexar - I love the extra memory at half the price!

Then why sony set their price so high knowing there is no significant difference? Just because made in Japan?

2, 2 and 0. 2 for Sony and SandDisk, 0 for Lexar (bought twice and both duds). But since the price of the Lexar 256 MB MS Select is very cheap ($82) and you guys have some lucks with them, I'm giving Lexar another change. Otherwise, I return them again for third and last time.

I have a 128 Mb MS and CF by Lexar. No problems ever. I have a
Sony MS that was corrupted once by removing it from a card reader.
