There have been many threads on browsers recently so I thought I would try a few. WebProV has been a popular choice and I have been testing it. I am having so many problems e.g. if I select Preferences I get a memory error and have to do a Reset; if I select Email URL I get a Fatal reset and so it goes on.
I have tried running from RAM and from MS - same results
New WebProV users - have you found similar problems? Did you persevere or move to something else? I still find Netfront very stable and can do basic broswer functions despite its shortcomings
Old WebProV users - did you get these? What version are you running? Are you running from RAM or MS? Did you use Powerrun?
Why do so many os us find problems with software appls that work fine for some but cause lots of headache for rest of us?
Thanks

I think it has a lot to do with having many apps installed. Over time, I have installed many programs and then removed them. Even though they were deleted, remainders of the apps can cause conflicts. When I first tried Web Pro, it crashed my NX70 everytime I used it. I did a hard reset and installed only the files I needed. Web Pro works great now, so for me the hard reset was worth it. It was very time consuming though. Also, my NX runs much faster now. Hope this helps.

Hmm, I have 100+ apps on my NX and no fatal errors of any kind. WebProV works flawlessly as Blazer and PocketLink II now does. Some apps have had issues, but most of mine now are well behaved. I don't run a lot of hacks or equivalent.
The last time I had a fatal error was beta testing the CF memory driver, and I had to really work at it.

I do not have that many appls and am not using many hacks. The issue about deleting progs but still having files aroung is a valid point but no easy way round it except via a hard reset! I guess the best procedure is:
- Do a MS Backup to MS
- Do a Backupman backup to MS
- Hotsync to get another backup on desktop
Do Hard Reset
Enable JackFlash
Restore ALL files from MS using MSBackup from MS
Do a Hotsync to get any missing files
Is that correct? Will I need to reinstall any applications after a hard reset?
I may try PowerLink II as well

If you HotSync, all the files that you have removed, will comeback, the same with any other backup. The only way to have a clean slate is to nuke everything. Just doing a hard reset and reloading everything accomplishes nothing, but extra work on your part :(

I was hoping not to re-install everything - guess there is no other alternative. I thought by restoring files I wanted would at least sort out any memory frag. We need an easier way to uninstall and install new appls for the Clie
Cheers

Defrag is usually not a problem with memory cards as there is no moving parts. It's hard to say, but apps that backup the RAM also backup any anomolies too :( One reason I keep rolling backups, so if I do discover a problem, I can revert back a backup or two where the issue doesn't exist. I always use the delete in the standard default launcher. It's not perfect, but does a respectable job for the most part. If I normally launch an app from the Palm-Launcher folder for example, I always move it back to RAM first before deleting. Working with a clie is really not a whole lot different from using a desktop PC, as a lot of the same principals apply.
Sometimes I get this mental image that some are like a bull in a china shop :D!

I understand there are some similarities but do not really tend to do 'hard' resets and reinstall all software. Looks like I have no choice so will review that.
In the meantime I will try Powerlink II browser as well

I had the same error problems with WebproV, I tried from clean install, to no avail. I could never isolate the problem. I gave up and dumped it.
