View Full Version : NX70 Tip: Switching silkskins with one stroke
Did you know?
When you make a stroke starting right of the MS symbol in the status bar(clock or arrow or what else) and end at the home button, then you can switch between another silkscreen back and forth.
Cool, eh?!
I am not sure whether somebody recognized that first, if yes, I apologize.

i tryed it but it didnt work
wait can u take a look at this item:
http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16284
The NX70 seems to include a silk skin switcher (that bar button thing) but i found that skins dont appear there and it only shows the default silk skins or the wonderskin app.
Shouldnt it show skins as they are ?
It seems as if Sony did think it up at first - so what gives?
Yeah, I forgot to say. You need first to enable it. Then it is working.
In my case I switch between my WonderSilk design and the standard input.
Try it plz again. It should work for you.
The question you are referring to is simple:
This is a feature which calls itself 'Silk plug-in' not skin changer. Why? Because you could also bring only an audioplayer interface in that- not only by WonderSilk, although this is the only app I know which can handle the plug-in interface or a second notepad, whatever..

How do you enable it?
Hm, I enable it via the Silk plug-in as you all do as well.(locate next to the finder symbol in the status bar. When I swich it the first time it only works via the plug-in. But any second time I can switch between it via the stroke starting from the clock to the home button.(lower right to the upper left)
I checked it and can't find a program beeing the reason for that.(disabled Okey, TealMaster).
I use Kinu-maru V.1.20; WonderSilk Version 1.12

Hey, I got it to work! I read the instuctions to quickly and was moving the stylus from the clock to the Home button on the status bar. It's the OTHER Home button. OK, thats a pretty cool trick and works with any of the silk plug-ins too.

Wasn't there a app the showed up in the pref.'s that would take you to the OEM silkskin?
OKey arrows cover the one in the taskbar.
Thanks

Yes, the app actually comes with OKey. It's in the Okey .zip file.

Hey man, thanks a ton for the tip!!!! NX70, how did you ever figure that out?!?
I have the calculator plug-in but I use OKey, and I always felt like I had to choose one or the other or do a ton of steps to switch between the calc skin and the regular skin. But this manuever does the trick!! I have it working with a skin I added using TnSilkChanger and with OKey enabled. Very nice!!
The steps are a bit confusing so far in this thread, so here's a cleaned-up version.
1) If OKey is enabled, disable it.
2) Click on the skin changer icon in the status bar (to the right of the Find icon).
3) Change from the standard skin to a different skin (for example, the calculator skin).
4) If you use OKey, you can reenable it.
5) Swipe your stylus between the clock on the status bar and the Home button on the VG area. If the Home button isn't displaying (such as in the calculator skin), then just swipe to where the Home button would be if it were displaying. This will toggle between your skins.
Steps 1-4 only need to be done once.

Rod, I agree this is great since I used to use that calculator plug-in a lot and with Okey enabled,, it's a pain to switch plug-ins. But not anymore!

Trying to figure this out I stumbled across something that I think maybe app specific. Drawing a straight line across the VG area changes your catagory when using ZLauncher. Just draw a somewhat staright line across the VG area from the numbers side to the letter side or vice versa. Depending on the direction you draw the line your cats. will switch in that direction. I'm sure this is already stated somewhere though.
I found that by chance and no, unfortunately I don't know of any other. I think cbulock knows maybe some more, for he is one of our seniors..
Cool sheik28. I didn't know that either. For I use ZLauncher this is absolutely more convenient than using the JogDial.

Why do I get the feeling that there's going to be thousands of people doing random stylus swipes just to see what happens :) nx70, I can't believe you found that by chance, but I'm glad you did!!

It's a calculator that goes in the VG area. The filename is SlkCalc and it came in a zip file with a bunch of other VG area plug-ins, including one that showed an analog clock and another that shows today's Datebook apps. I know it came from a Japanese site, but I got it when I first got my NX, so I don't remember the link now. Anyone else? I would definitely recommend it. With this trick, it's very handy to be able to access a calculator without leaving your current app.

Will these plugins work only with the NX70V, or will they work with the NX60 as well?

You don't need to start your swipe at the clock for this to work. You can start anywhere on the status bar and swipe up and to the left and it should work. Also, if you swipe up and to the right from the status it gives you the command line to beam, cop, paste, etc. This works when virtual grafitti is down so you don't need to pull up the VG area to get to the command line.

They will work on both. The two machines are identical aside from the camera.

Alistar and chopstxxx, I actually found out about the Graffiti command bar trick last night too and was about to post about it when I saw your posts. Alistar, sorry I missed that thread. One nice use of the trick is that if you use BugMe, you can do a high-res+ screen grab of apps to include as a BugMe note, whereas before you had to bring the graffiti area back to do the screen grab.
