I don't see the Sandisk 1GB on the EuroWare List (CompactFlash Storage Cards That Work with the EruWare CompactFlash Storage Card Driver) : http://www.eruwarestore.com/cfscdcCards.htm
I've got the Lexar 1GB. No problems.

hey sony-kuri.... one way to be sure people will not help you is to be impatient and demand an answer in 2.5 hours... a real faux pas in forums.... this is just a word to the wise....
i have a sandisk 1 gig, and it does not work well with the cf driver... the transcend seems to be the only 1 gig that has been reported to be fine by many people.... and elysian9 says his 1 gig works, but my opinion is wait for how the cf driver turns out...
i have a sandisk 1 gig, and am very disappointed that this major brand was not checked out (also volunteered several times to beta test, and have about 6 different cf's and a microdrive)
even the 512's don't all work...

it would be nice to know which 512mb and 1gb cf cards work best with the cf driver. which one has less problems...

I have the 1G Sandisk and the only problem I have encountered with the CF driver is playing MOV files that were converted to HIGH QUALITY with Image Converter.
Other that that, the camera, voice recorder, audio player and other MOV and MPEG files work just fine.

I do have the 1GB SanDisk, and even though it is inexpensive, I can't recommend it for general use with CLIE.
My raw i/o tests show it is extremely slow for writing data.
Caveats: assuming the current 1.0 or 1.1 driver, and assuming write access is important to you. It does much better for read-only applications. Driver *may* improve in the future.
I don't have a Lexar 1GB CF to test, but I would be surprised if it is worse than the SanDisk.
My 1GB SanDisk: Write speeds: 7 KB/sec (1KB blocks) to 108 KB/sec (16KB blocks)
Compare that to a normal Memory stick writing speed of 30 -> 330KB/sec
Or to a Transcend 30X CF card with writing speed of 57 -> 490 KB/sec.
Caveat: your measured speeds may vary

Sundays are usually a quiet day and I spent the afternoon shopping, errands, and such. A lot of users post from their schools or work during the day.

I have the 1GB Kingston. VFSMark 204 with both v1.0 and v1.1 CD Driver. Turning Caching on in v1.1 raised it to 243. I haven't had any problems but I have reverted back to v.0 until the cooruption problem is fixed.

Boy oh boy I really botched that reply. I of course meant the CF Driver and I have reverted back to v1.0.

I have the 1gb Sandisk without any major issues. I used it for 4 hours straight to play mp3s and no problems. I have not tried it with video, so I can't speak for that.

Try the 1GB 30x Transcend if you can get it....

Sorry guys... Very apologetic for my impatient outburst. I wanted to go pick it up yesterday itself (I'm sure you guys can understand my excitement on downloading the eruware software and feeling the urge to go buy a 1 GB card THAT SECOND!)
Thanks for the responses... I have to decide between only the 2 brands coz where I live (the United Arab Emirates) I don't have the full range. I think I'm going to go for the Lexar as most ppl seem to have had issues with their Sandisk. Any complaints with the Lexar out there???

One more question, I used DVDx to copy a movie and save it on my hard drive but that seems to be larger than 1 GB. Is that normal? If I use Image Converter to put the file on my Clie, will it help reduce the size???

replying to your previous post, i would look into the transcend card if i needed to buy one now...
while no negative reports on the lexar 1 gig, over the years, lexar has had some compatibility probs in some of their flash, for example right now, there are several MS readers that can't work well with the lexar MS...
I have used SanDisk over the years, they have been in business a long time, but they don't always have the lowest prices or fastest products. Nevertheless, they have a great warranty, and their products are almost always compatible.
The transcend card is a newcomer, but it seems that this is the card (in 1 gig) that was most tested with the driver...
Greg
p.s. the movie file might shrink if the resolution becomes smaller due to the conversion...

After reading through these threads about what card to buy...it seems there is a big difference having to do with the type of clie as opposed to the card. So what is the big difference between the NZ and the NX70? Everyone has a preference. I favor the NZ myself but I know I am not in the majority. So enlighten me?

Sony-Kuri the Image Converter gives you three choices for conversion. The lowest resolution, "Long" mode, will convert to the tune of about 1 Meg per minute roughly. So a 120 minute video, converted with DVDx will be about 120 meg.
I tried Standard mode and the video is indeed much better but after watching a few videos in "Long" mode I'd rather fit two videos on my 256M CF card than one with better resolution.
The Hig Quality option produces a great video with better color depth and sharp images but at such a cost in the final file size I haven't tried a whole video. You'd need a 512 M CF card for a whole video in hi-res mode.
