How to Change the System Sound?

Is it possible to change the System Sound?...that's the tapping sound when u select an application.

Yes, it is possible. I'm not sure if they're still in developement but you can find a HACK called "TECHSOUNDS" (for clie), also sometimes called "TREKSOUNDS".
You can have it play specific sounds for specific funtions, such as, Cradle in/ Cradle out, the "TAPPING" sound you mentioned, and even assign a sound for shutdown not to mention a shutdown IMAGE, which is prety cool. You'll need a Hack manager such as, Hackmaster for it to function.
