could anyone suggest a good memopad replacement app? or maybe of other ways to use third-party apps that would give equivalent or better functionality compared to the built-in memopad.

thanks...

Depends on what you're looking for. Meteor (http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=1&jid=5DX96X2EC163E96DXF9A92BEX6198A92&productId=17617&optionId=1_1_2&productType=2&catalog=1&txtSearch=meteor&sectionId=0&platformId=1) is nice.

Personally, I like WordSmith. It's a full-function word processor for my clie. But it replaces the memo pad function seamlessly.

Wordsmith, much more that memopad, complete word processor, view word documents, Hires, smooth fonts, etc.

...that would give equivalent or better functionality compared to the built-in memopadUnfortunatly, you really need to specify what you mean. For example, the MemoPad replacement app that I use is called "MemoSafe (http://palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?prodID=4408)" which is nothing more than a clone of the standard MemoPad app with encryption added to secure memos. It's cheap and very effective. Though not nativly HiRes+, when used with the "CodeDiver" app, it will work "full-screen".

It all kinda depends on what you are looking for.

I would also vote for Wordsmith. It also has the extra benefit of being free if you only use it for memos. Plus, it lets you do up to 75 edits on Docs until it nags you to pay for that feature.

I'll give another vote for Wordsmith. It adds a lot of features "Like Tap and Hold pop up menus" while keeping the same form as the basic MemoPad. It also works great with the CF driver.

pEdit is a little hard to use, but lets you control everything with a keyboard. And it becomes hi-res+ compatible with CodeDiver (though I've had the display get screwed up once or twice). And it's free if you're a member of the American Mathematical Society. :-)

ive heard a lot about wordsmith... unfortunately, it isnt compatible with the 2-byte character set asian languages... im quite sure i tried a trial version before (on my previous clie - n750c), and i wasnt able to input japanese.

memoplus was really good on my vx, however, it is so complicated (and slow) that i gave up on it...

what i would like is something that would allow me to view memos without having the possibility of changing something... and of course, a better encryption than that provided by the os...

Personally I like MemoPLUS from HandsHigh. It adds a ton of features to Memo Pad. EVen the ability to draw or handwrite notes as attachments to your memo. Useful quickly writing down a phone number or drawing directions.

I've been using MemoSafe for years. I got that with my OLD PALM IIIx, and haven't looked back. It's a great (simple) memopad replacement, and the added feature of encryption is nice. You can also download a "WinSafe" free addon for registered users, to view your encrypted memos on a Windows PC. Great Program.
