Hi Everyone,

As the battery in the NX is removeable, does anyone know whether Sony sell the battery for replacement ? Or any third party supplier ?

I know the manual said that the battery should last the life time of the Clie but I would interest to know if the battery can be replaced once I find the performance start degrading.

Thanks

Most I think would find a battery that does not keep its charge the perfect excuse for a new Clie... don't count on replacing it.

You know, I have used lithium type batteries for about 5 years, and the longest product I have had with lithium batteries is my Dell laptop - I originally bought 2 lithium batteries for the product but had only used 1, by the 4 1/2 year mark, the 1st battery wasn't lasting too long - so I switched to my 2nd lithium battery which I never used - and low and behold, the 2nd battery holds a longer charge. And, my visor prism, also with an non-removeable battery is about 2 years old, and seems to be fine, but only using as my 2nd PDA (emergency use only), and the charge seems to hold the same as 2 years ago. But, what am I getting to - in 2 to 4 years, it might be cheaper to buy a USED NX?? on ebay just for the battery - might only cost you $50 or less in 2 years from now and the battery might still be good. Heck, if sony did bother to see a "new" battery they might charge over $100.

Hey, I'm half way towards being able to have a customizable Avator.

Pretty much the same here with the Dell Laptop batteries, they can have a long lifetime.

Not the case with Apple Ti Powerbooks. My first battery lasted about 4 hours for the first year. Then, it degraded to 2.5! Had to buy a new battery which is now running at 3.5. Kinda sucks.

In my experience, the quickest way to kill a rechargeable battery is to let it sit. I am not saying this is the case with you, but a general advisory.
