Why did you guys say there is no improvement on movie playing?
There is big improvement on movie playing for me. I have 1GB sandisk CF card. With CF driver 1.0, I couldn't play any standard movies and I could only play some of long mode movies.
I updated CF driver last night. I just converted some standard movies to my CF card and they play very well.

I think the problem here is that not all cards are created equal. Even cards from the same manufacturer and same size may exhibit different behavior. This may be part of the reason that Sony didn't support CF out of the box...of course the fact that their MS Pro sales on these devices would be nearly zero probably encouraged them not to support it either.

I agree with Ayasin
I use a 512MB PQI card, I can play "standard" movies with both drivers (1.0 and 1.1). The 1.1 driver is definitely faster on both movie and pictures. However, my Clie is still 'hung' with 1.1 driver.

I have never been able to play movies smoothly with any versions of the drivers with my 64meg SanDisk card. It is obviously a hardware issue, and not software.
I can play mp3s fine... and others have reported problems there.

I now have limited success with my Integral 512mb CF.
Previously I couldn't play any movie files (no matter what quality). Since I've updated the driver, with slow mode enabled I can now play some files (the maximum size thus far is 103mb).
However anything approaching 130mb does not play, and the smaller files (in standard quality) do play but button response is very slow.
Hopefully v1.2 of the driver may fix this problem, but as previously pointed out, not all cards are equal and this may make it difficult to resolve for everyone.

Using a 256M CF I find using the Cache makes it run smooth. Without the cache it stil works but drops frames.
The only problem I have is if I hit the stop button while the movie is playing it will stop, then hit start and the movie restarts. After that the movie is playing but nothing will stop it short of a soft reset.
I've also found selecting the Movie Play Option Preferences Resume (Movie Player format) will lock up the movie so it won't play and a soft reset is required.
I can watch movies, just have to pay attention to the rules...

Hello all,
Can anyone tell me how I can format a 512MB CF with 4k Cluster size?
I am facing problem on movie playing with my PQI 512MB CF but it play smoothly with my Eagletech 256MB CF. With FAT16 format, 512CF can only select 8K cluster size while 256 can select 4K cluster. I am not sure whether this is the only reason. But is there anyone can give me an advice?

I don't think you can do it.
The FAT and FAT32 files systems impose the following restrictions on the number of clusters on a volume:
FAT: Number of clusters <= 65526
FAT32: 65526 < Number of clusters < 268435446
If you want to format CF with 4k cluster:
65526*4096 = 268,394,496 byte
268,394,496/1024/1024 = 256M
The max volume size is 256M on 4k cluster.
