I know that I was going to make a tutorial for making NX status bars, and I am still going to, but I think you guys will like this better. Heres a quick tutorial on how to make backgrounds for your Graffiti area in 16-bit color using some software I found.

Check it out at http://nx.cbulock.com/16bitvg

BTW, I just noticed that the app you are using determines if the VG skins are in 16-bit mode or not. If you are using the standard launcher, in will not be in 16-bit color when you are at the launcher. But ZLauncher for example, does use 16-bit color and the VG skins show up correctly. So basicly, it depends from app to app if the skins will be in 16-bit mode.

Ahh, I guess I won't be using it as I like YiShow better.

The launcher you use doesn't matter, I was just using ZLauncher as an example.

And I use an NR, should have mentioned that. :)

It might work on the NR too, I have no idea. The apps that are used are all from Japan, and while the apps themselves are converted to English, the instructions and websites are all in Japanese. I have tried running them through Babelfish and was able to figure out how they work, but I'm not sure on the details. I did see mention of NX60/70V, but I'm not sure if it only works on those devices, or if the instructions were simply mentioning that they were supported. You could try it out and then posts your results here, that would be cool!!:)

Just curious . . . I played around with this and it worked very well. I have a background/VG I'd like to share, but don't know what the VG is labeled .. . . . does it make a 'real' VG, or is it program dependent?

Incidentally, when you want the VG to match the background, say, in ZL, you can use the same image (a WHOLE one) to make the VG. It comes out perfectly. =) You do have to move it to the correct folder, then back (or make a copy of your bg for the images folder) but it's VERY cool.

Thank you for taking the time to figure out those programs & then make a website to share your expertise. You're a rare person . . . smart & kind!

Thanks for the comments. I'm pretty sure that the skins are program dependent and I found the easiest way to find the actual files themselves is to go to TnSilkChanger, then select the skin, then goto Menu, then Copy. That will copy it to the Memory Stick. Then the file will be in /PALM/Programs/Skins/Graffiti/.

But the WPDiver and CodeDiver that are linked to from the tutorial page are expired, according to a pop-up box that shows up when I try and launch them!???

I see that it just expired, but there is an updated version of the software. http://www.jade.dti.ne.jp/~imazeki/palm/cDiv/data/cDiv10.zip

This is the release version and is a 30 shareware trial. Unfortanatly, I haven't been able to figure out how to purchase it. There is a link on their webpage which is here (http://www.jade.dti.ne.jp/~imazeki/palm/cDiv/index.html). If someone knows an easy way to purchase this, that would be cool.

I haven't made any of my own skins, just d/led a couple I like. How can I make these work with tnsilkchanger? I have put them in /palm/programs/silk/graffiti, but tnsilkchanger still doesn't seem to see them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

TnSilkChanger only works with skins you create with WPDiver. For other skins you will need an app called PhotoSkin.
