HP will be selling touchpads this coming October. Since they are new Touchpads won't they be selling them higher in price than the fire sale Touchpads 16G for $99 and 32GB for $149?

The prices for Touchpads here in Los Angeles has stabilized around $200 and it seems that the demand is still there at that price. Also I wonder if any Touchpads with 64GB will be for sale.

The speculation I read was that HP was going to crank out another run to satisfy their contractual commitments to various parts suppliers (who likely traded margin for a volume commitment). As someone who likes owning defunct technology (i.e. my Tx collection), I added my name to the waiting list at HP, with the thought that I could use a $99 16gB Touchpad for web access around the house (the 'ol Tx is on the small side for this). In addition to the pricing question, a) will I make it through the waiting list, and b) will the additional Touchpad run convince a 'Lenovo' to acquire the rights for continued offering of WebOS toys? PhilPalm, have you acquired a Touchpad to add to your 'Palm' stable?

Californians are speculating Touchpads (afterall HP is in Calif). I noticed that one 16 gb touchpad (in Bakersfield) is selling for $190 which beats the price here in Los Angeles.

One seller is claiming he overclocked his Touchpad:

and did other things to claim his price of $300 is justified. I suppose the price will go higher because the Android to WebOS is moving very quickly....

I don't think the price has anywhere to go but down, not up. There are many thousands of people who bought the Touchpad for only one reason: the price. There will be a very large percentage of those who will discover:

1. Tablets are not for them, or
2. This particular tablet is not for them, for a whole bunch of reasons (I have one so I know what many of those reasons are).

As far as the overclocking, anyone can overclock their Touchpad up to 1.7GHz. Many are stopping at 1.5GHz just to be on the safe side but there are no ill reports from doing the max. If someone gets a Touchpad and isn't comfortable doing the mods necessary to overclock it, just find a 14 year old who has jailbroken their iPxd or rooted their 'Droid.

Rooting the Touchpad is a breeze because HP made it very easy to do instead of hiding it and making it "illegal", unlike Apple and Google.

My prediction is that once folks get tired of overpaying the people who are charging obscene prices for units they got at the firesale prices and the slightly used units start to hit the market, the prices will drop like a rock.
