Dear Sony Clie users,

Hi all and thank you for reading this post. I and a few others have worked to form a new software team "MicroMadHouse" hoping to create interesitng applications for the palm user.

We are now looking for beta testers for our soon to be released product: Music Studio.

MicroMadHouse:

We set ourselves two goals:

1.To produce fun and creative applications on the palm.
2. To raise money and awareness for internet charities.

Music Studio:

"A polyphonic music creator and editor that not only allows you to create stunning musical pieces on your handheld but also import them to your desktop as Midi files and beam them as ringtones to your mobile phone!"

Requirements:

Any Sony Clie with enhanced sound card function with: mobile phone capable of polyphonic ringtones and bluetooth/IR function.

We would like beta testers to work privately with us until software release with accurate reports on any bugs found and reviews on the application. We would like our testers to have reviews within the 3 days of receiving the program and stay with us til the final release.

We would like friendly fun loving palm users who are trustworthy and reliable (just like us!) Remember you will be helping us develop the future of polyphony on our Palms and phones as well helping us to raise money for charity.

Benefits:

All beta testers will receive a free copy of the final release of Music Studio once it is released and will be placed on our list for future beta testing purposes.

How to apply:

Please email: saqib@micromadhouse.com with "Beta Music Studio" as the subject, and your current Clie model and mobile phone model.

Musicians are preferred and please input a line on why you shoud be a beta tester!

Unfortunately not all applicants will be selected as there is only alimited number of spaces available.

Thankyou kindly.
Saqib.

The NX70 has everything built-in that he wants except you'd also have to buy a bluetooth MS. Which I have. But unless its MP3 capable (unlikely) I wouldn't want to beta test it.

I don't have a phone with IR, so I guess I can't be a beta tester.:(
As a musician, however, I would be interested in creating files on the handheld & transfering them to MIDI files on the desktop (and I would assume the reserse would work, too, right?)

Thankyou all for replying to this advert for beta testers. We have had a great response and I thankyou all. We will be getting back to all those who responded and unfortunately we cannot take any more.

Thankyou again, we hope to produce a worthwhile and exciting application!

Vidge, if you leave your email address with me ill add you to the betas.

Unfortunately, the system so far is only Palm to PC, we are currently researching extensivley on how to get palm to open all the different wide variety of midi files out there, and it is possible we can get it done for a Music Studio 2! Thankyou for the comment though.

Did you ever look at this (Midi file format documentation):
http://www.simtel.net/pub/dl/48150.html
It's rather detailed and should make conversion easy

Here's a small part for previewing:

3. Track Chunks

The remainder of the file after the header chunk consists of track chunks.
Each track has one header and may contain as many midi commands as you like.
The header for a track is very similar to the one for the file:

4D 54 72 6B xx xx xx xx

...

Generally, http://www.myfileformats.com/ has some pretty good descriptions as well

Hi HansSchmucker, thanks for the link. We are looking into it but I think the problems we are hitting are a little deeper. However we are thoroughly looking into it and one of our programmers says "we are very close!".

Thanks!

Does it work on the Tungsten T palm? I'm guessing not...

MicroMadHouse

Hi iicRuled - I beleive it wont entirely work on the Tungsten simply coz Tungsten havent introduced an enhanced sound card yet for polyphonic tunes and midis.

It maybe possible to still beam current alarms in the alarm databse to phones, and also compose midis but only really appreciate the polyphonic sound once it is exported to your PC.

The Tungsten does have mp3 however but thats no use to this applicaiton jsut yet. As soon as Palm develop a handheld with enhanced sound in this aspect, we can open up onto that market. I dont see why they dont, even simple mobile phones are getting it ;) Come on Tungsten, pull your socks up!

Cheers,
Saq.
