Just bit the bullet and traded in my nr for the nz. When I try turning it off by holding up the power button, the screen just dims. Is this how it's supposed to work?

You just slide it and let it go, you don't hold it. Holding it turns the backlight on and off. Just slide it up and release, and the unit will turn off.

Hasn't the hold power button thing been the backlight for ever and ever on Palms?
