I have a clie nx70v (obvioulsly since im in the nx70v forum :)) and it was working perfect a little while ago. I put it down on my desk and now a little while later I go to pick it up and it appears to be dead!?!??!!

When I push the power button it does nothing, it reponds to no buttons, and it no longer beeps when the wifi card or memory stick is removed / put in. The only thing it will do is light up the orange light when it is in its cradle.

Does anyone know whats wrong? I hope it isnt dead.

I do have compusa's TAP thing but im not sure how it works.

Look below the jog dial and then below the back button on the side of your device. Make sure that the hold button is slid down and not active. Just a guess.

Oh also it does nothing when I push the hotsync button when it is in cradle.

Forum wont let me edit my post?

edit: heh ... it lets me edit this one

The hold button isnt on, if it was the power led would flash when the button is pushed.

Other than that all I can think of is it needs a good charging and a reset using the reset hole in the back.

Try a HARD reset. This behavior appears to be the OS5 equivalent of the "blue screen of death" in windows. Hold down power button and push reset on back. Release both and pray. Good luck.

I do not know. What do you do before you get the error? Do you really think it is the CF driver? If so can you get to the driver before the error?...

I dont have the cf driver :(

I have no clue what it is .... usually it happens when stuff stops working and I do a soft reset. It pops up at that first screen with the palm logo.

I had a similar problem when I changed from my NR to a NX series device. I had a offending file or two that were causing conflicts and driving me mad. Look at any hacks you are running first, but then you may have to start with a clean slate, and load up and test each app to find the offender. This took me some work, but now my system is stable.

What app was it? I use tons, ive tried hacks but this happens without them, I will be wiping tomorrow and reloading everything. Making a list of apps I will install right now.

If RAM becomes corrupted, only a hard reset will fix it. If the backup is alos corrupted, then it's back to the beginning. Too many hacks running at the same time can be an invitation to trouble as who knows if they have been tested and are compatible. OS5 does not necessarily mean Sony Clie. RAM is all too easily corrupted, it don't take much, for a variety of reasons.

Be sure to rename your backup directory so you don't reinstall your 'old' apps. It could install the problem right along with it.

Good luck!

Make sure it's not a program conflict. I'm using Launcher X and Jackflash and I forgot that you should never move Jackflash to CF (or any other memory card) if you use Launcher X. I spent a whole day trying to figure out what the "MemoryMgr.c.Line5767 Heap ID not found" error meant ..

I even did a few hard resets, progressive restores .. the works !! Try to recall what was the last thing you installed and could still successfully do a reset .. in my case I moved Jackflash to CF but did not do a rest until today so it did not occur to me that moving Jackflash was the cause ...

*Sigh* Hope someone else is able to benefit from this bit of experience ..

Cheers

try to remove your memory stick/format it if you are seeing error at the Palm logo
