There are some black marks on the base of the unit (face of the keyboard) where the hinge of the screen touches the keyboard face. I can mostly remove them by rubbing them off. Does anyone else have similar markings on their NX? If so, how do you remove them/keep them from appearing? I think the texture of the NX series makes it easier to mark...but I have no idea. Please repond if you do/do not have or had this problem.

What black markings? I don't see any on mine?

Can you post a picture?

i've never noticed any odd marks or scratches on mine. but i do keep it in a vaja case where the "slipper" method of holding it in the case does not allow it to fully close and thus create any friction between the screen and keyboard sections. so maybe that has helped prevent any markings...

I think that is normal. There was a thread about this earlier, and there were some pics posted about it and it seemed to be a common thing on the NX's.

Here's the image that I took earlier and posted to this thread (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=776) that has the information you're looking for.

It seeks to be a problem only for the silver NX's and it appears to be normal. My fix for the problem was putting a tiny piece of scotch tape where the scratches appeared. Not the best solution, but it works.

You know what's weird. I didn't notice until you mentioned it, but I have marks there too. Except the marks are silver colored on my Gunmetal NX. Hmmm....

Okay, I see what your talking about. Looks like it's occuring by vibration or flexing. I do not have those marks, but when I transport my Clie, I make sure it's well paded. I could see that carrying it around in ones pocket or sitting on the dashboard of a car could cause the markings where it rubs together.

hmm... it creates gunmetal color on the silver clie, and silver color on the gunmetal clie... interesting...

yep....it's pretty normal for mine to get marks there too. No big thing, they just rub away.

do the marks on the gunmetal clie look bad? are they inevitable to avoid? i have a gunmetal on order and want to know if i would be better off with the silver for this particular reason.
the marks on the silver would not bother me as much as i imagine the white marks on the gunmetal one would. does anyone have a gunmetal clie with these marks on it? does it bother you much?

I've attached a pic. The mark is silver and on the hinge above the capture button and right below the screen assembly. Be patient, it takes awhile for images to upload to the site.

You can see the silver mark in the picture. It's to the right of where it says "REC" (From the "CAPTURE/REC" button).

To answer your question, it doesn't bother me at all. As a matter of fact, I didn't even notice it until I read this thread and started looking for it. I wouldn't give up my gunmetal for it. I actually think the marks on the silver NX are more noticeable.

oh ok, thanks. i can't wait for my gunmetal to arrive this week. what i like most about the gunmetal color is it's not everywhere. most people will have silver and it'll be more commonplace. what i don't like about it is sony or other manufacturers will not make gunmetal accessories to match the gunmetal color, since silver is more common. but hey, i had a silver nr70, time to have a new color nx.

Hey Rob, do you see the picture now?

I just saw it, thanks. From that picture, it doesn't look too bad.

Is it possible to get marks where the screen and keyboard area touch when closed? Also, does the Gunmetal one have a rough feel like the silver one?

My NX is less than 2 weeks old and I've got 'em as well. Easy to rub off. No problem thus far.

I don't see any marks where the screen and keyboard area touch. I guess it could be possible to get them if you jumped on your NX.
I've played with a silver NX and the Gunmetals are definitely smoother in texture.
