I have already posted in some other threads. The still camera and MP3 performance has been improved. The Video Recorder still has issues. Speed is improved and lot of little miscellaneous fine tuning was done.

My issue was with recording a movie, no one complained about playing any movies :).

When I tried to play the movie, that was converted by the Image Converter into MQV format and stored in the CF Card, it cannot play as smooth as it was in the Memory Stick especially when I was the Landscape mode. In some cases, no sound. In some cases, system hang. There were quite some feedbacks raised by users in this forum page. I do surprise that you did not know that.

yes, i tend to agree as well. i have read several posts about this alleged problem. ive even started a thread of my own regarding the larger CF cards.

it seems the larger the cf card the more problems your alleged to have playing movies.

why alleged? because i havent heard anything official from the guys at eruware

It was in reference to the beta testers on the updated driver being tested. Sorry for the confusion. I am NOT into movies, so I can't convey my own personal experiences.

Well, yeah, I have to agree on the video playback thing, since I can play awesome movie clips off my 256MB CF but can't play the exact same movies off my 1G CF. So it's here collecting dust since I store more mini movies rather than MP3s. But I hope the increase in Speed perhaps can fix this minor problem. I do realize it relates back to the size of the CF (again back to the cluster issue) & would not be easy for a CLIE to allocate or access the info on such a big card, whereas it can easily read off a 256MB CF.

so in your opinion is buying a 1gb card to play movies not worth the effort?

should i stick to a 512mb or 256 card

Very difficult question I must say, as it relates with so many influencial factors, debates like SPEED, BRAND, SIZE, Movie Playback Mode... etc....

But it's just my personal experience with the movie playback, I bougth the SanDisk 256MB to test out the CF driver. (very stable even now) It shares similar bug problems as other CF users, but what came as a surprise to me was being able to play HighQuality mode movie off the 256MB card??? Since I realize many states only standard mode works. Then that's when I went up to 1G SanDisk, but things turned out different than expected. The same movies didn't work off the 1G CF even when I changed them to Standard Mode, but long length standard mode movies did tend to run (eg. 127MB).

It seems that my mini short movie clips (eg. 36MB/ 9min30) refused to play off the 1G card, perhaps file size was small so it was hard for the NX to allocate the movie file on the 1G card. So cluster was the issue that came into play. But other than movie playing, everything else from the 1G CF worked normal just as the 256MB, eg. MP3s & other application.

It's just my personal preference to enjoy playback of movies. Perhaps other Brands of CF cards would serve the purpose where my 1G SanDisk wasn't able.

How's your CF behaving? If you ask me, I think a 512MB would suit me just fine, although I must admit I haven't actually tested one with my movies on it. but with my limited knowledge, the cluster size between 256MB and 512MB are quite similar, where the 1G is somewhat different.

So you have my answer. :D 512MB

Hi Eddy,

Guess we're here discussing video playback again :)

Just to add in, I own a 512MB TDK brand CF card. Short Standard Mode videos works fine (10MB~), however same videos encoded in HighQuality Mode usually fail (with occasional success).

So for videos perhaps...

1GB CF - HQ mode (Problems), Standard mode (Problems)
512MB CF - HQ mode (Problems), Standard mode (OK)
256MB CF - HQ mode (OK), Standard mode (OK)

Hmm...

Seems like an issue that needs looking into and I'll pass it along. Looks like size matters...

BTW, I would be interested to hear how it works with the update!

Thanks!

Short, clean, directly and very nicely put, you should've appeared so that I didn't have to type the whole long essay! :D
Thanks! finally I found someone with feedback on 256MB CF - HQ mode (OK) So 512MB CF still sometimes OK... hmm.
