During the installation, it should have asked you that, you're correct. There are two things you can do. On the Clie CD should be a program called IntelliSync. This will allow you to do what you want. Another program, which many like more than IntelliSync, is Chapura's PocketMirror. If you know someone with an older Palm CD, it used to come with them (Palm Vx is where I got mine).

I guess I should add, if you don't have access to a copy of PocketMirror, and decide you don't like IntelliSync, you can buy PocketMirror off Chapura's website.

I assume you use Intelystink Lite? If yes, did you set it up with your PC connected to the internet (like IE is ready for browsing)? During the Palm Desktop installation, there is a step where it asks to synchronize your Clie data with PalmDesktop for CLIE or Microsoft Outlook, did you select the Outlook?

If you get this far, somewhere during the intallation steps, the Intellystink will pop up a window something like: "Intellystink - your username configuration".  It contains 'Adress Book', 'Date Book', 'Memo Pad', 'To Do List'.  You need to check ONE AT A TIME, say you start with putting a check on 'Address Book', then click OK button and wait until 'MS Outlook' appears next to 'Address Book' with dual arrow sign between 'Address Book' and 'MS Outlook' signifying that 'Address Book' now synchronizes with 'Outlook' 'Contacts'.  Repeat the step for the next one, 'Date Book' to synchronize with 'Calendar', then 'Memo Pad' with 'Notes', and 'To Do List' with 'Task'.

You need to check ONE AT A TIME

Are you serious??? Wow...really glad I've avoided Intellistink this whole time.

Yea, I missed my old Vx's PocketMirror.

I called it Intellystink because I had the same problem earlier and called their help desk and the Intellystink guy on the other end said: "You have what now?  Intellystink Lite?  Sorry, you need to contact Sony for help.  We only help people who purchase full version of Intellystink".  I said: "yea, right, Sony is a big help too in this matter".  After messing around for a while, I finally figured it out.  I wish I knew about CS at the time (2 years ago).

I'd strongly suggest using Chapura PocketMirror (http://www.chapura.com) over Intellisync. I lucked out in that my previous Palm (the m100) came with it on the software CD, and then it's a free upgrade to the latest version. The Pro version is even better (lets you synchronize more than one calendar/task/contact folder to the same device using the Categories as Folder markers and includes its own version of the Calendar app to filter the different folder sources on your Palm).

As for Intellisync, I've never had much success with it, especially using Windows XP (for example, their Yahoo! version doesn't work at all in WinXP).

I've been using Desktop To Go for a gazillion years. Never had a problem with it. I just do basic Outlook Calendar and Outlook Contacts sync.

I used to sync my Outlook Mail too, but found that I never really read it on my Palm - it was just "cool" to be able to do it. At that time, I still had a Palm IIIxe, with only 8MB of RAM, and no expansion (and hard-to-read screen).

Just my $.02 - Desktop to Go has worked well for me.

OK..... this is driving me NUTS!

I have the following:

PEG-NX80V
Windows XP-Pro
Office XP-Pro

I have installed this &$%^# Intellisync lite that came with my Clie' FIVE TIMES!!!!!! Every single time the Intellisync comes on to ask me what folders to synchronize in Outlook, I check only one box (this time, let's say Address Book). IS, launches Outlook, then I select Address Book, then select the folders (in this case, MailBox - Stacy Rothwell, Contacts.

I get a popup window that says "This functionality is not supported in this version of Intellisync"

Is this bait and switch or what? I thought this thing was supposed to work with Outlook?

Can anyone help. As much as I hate Microsoft, my ipaq 3955 synced within 10 seconds of being hooked up the first time.

Any help would greatly be appreciated!

Regards,

The "lite" is there for a reason.  I believe that somewhere in the documentation, it outlines the limited nature of the program.  You get what you pay for...

I have used DataViz "desktop to go" for years.  It works perfectly with Outlook, and has never given me a problem.  I would highly recommend it.

...and please, don't compare a Palm unit to an iPaq.  That's like comparing a workstation to an etch-a-sketch.  :)

You'd do great by dumping Intellisync and using something else. I've been using Chapura PocketMirror since my first Palm (an m100 that replaced an HP Jornada Pocket PC, and now with my SJ-20) and have had no complaints. I've not had much luck with any Intellisync product.

The other product that I've had success with is Starfish's TrueSync, but it's no longer openly available (I think it's now packaged with Motorola phones and the old REX credit-card PDA). It used to be Yahoo!'s sync program of choice until they switched to Intellisync and was great because it could be used to sync multiple programs simultaneously (I was using it to sync Outlook, Lotus Notes, my Nokia phone, and my Pocket PC at the time).

The TrueSync install program which came with my wife's Motorola phone didn't work. I just downloaded the latest version from the TrueSync website a few days ago.
