I have a N710 upgraded to OS 4.1. I also recently had the screen replaced. Recently it's started exhibiting a strange behaviour - after doing a hot sync, while the Clie is "cleanig up" instead of a short beep it emits a long continuous beep for about 30 seconds before terminating the sync. Anybody have any idea why that should be? I did have the screen replaced recently, had to restore/rebuild the unit from a cold reset but initially it was working fine after that restore
Thanks
Larry
I hotsync to 2 PCs (work laptop and home desktop). I have the same problem only on the home PC when WorldMate (The Weather Channel and Currencies) needs to be updated. No problem with office laptop. If I hotsync with office laptop and then do another hotsync with home desktop on the same day, there is no howling since the Worldmate is up to date. Still haven't been able to figure out the fix.

Well I sync on two machines also. One I sync the calendar to Groupwise (Novell Groupware product) on a GW server using Intellisync and the rest of the sync is using the standard conduits. On my my home machine I sync entirely to the Palm Desktop. On both machines I get the long beep. It's more of a nuisance than a show stopper but shouldn't happen
I have similar setup as far as synchronizing Intellystink with office laptop and palm Desktop for CLIE with home PC. Still haven't found the solution yet. However there are several patches that work for me.
1. Update Worldmate with laptop first, which is unique to my case, before hotsync it with PC.
2. If I'm not in the mood of doing option 1, I just launch Volume DA to shut the Clie up for 5 minutes before HotSync with PC. The Volume Resume will the turn the volume back on automatically after 5 minutes.
3. The easiest way, which what you have done I'm sure, just to walk away from it until it gets tired of howling.
