Is there a cheap source for a multiconnector plug with the serial RX/TX pins (yes, I know they are TTL level--it's for interfacing with a 3.3v TTL level device)? The standard hotsync cables don't have these pins.

I know one can buy a serial cable, but they are very expensive. Is there some cheap home-made solution, like maybe cutting up an existing plug and moving the pins around? Or some plug that has all the pins in place?

LD standard hotsync plug can be opened and pins moved

Do you know if this can be done with the TX plug?

I opened up one of my cables. But I can't quite figure out how to move the pins. Each pin seems to have two metal pieces. One is springy and on the outside, and the other is immobile and inside. Do I just pull both out and push them back in in the new place?

I guess the metal has some sort of a spring in it?

I ended up ordering one of WyreNut's remaining connectors (actually, an early version of his microphone product).
