Do I need for a proper Clie operation the pan patch of the latest update. It kills actually more the 500 k ROM.

What pen patch?

The one that comes with the system update patch is only 3k. The update patch does more, one is to fix a nasty bug that causes a hard reset on a soft reset and wipes your clie clean.
