Sync two Palms?

Can you sync two different Palm computers on the same desktop?

I have a TX and a TE, so you gotta keep the backups and certain other things separate, but I don't mind having the same contacts list or datebook entries on both Palms. :)

I did give each Palm a unique owner name of course.

Should be no problem, since you have different User Names for them. Contacts and Datebook entries will be independent, so if you make changes to one, they won't be reflected in the other. Maybe now is the time to decide which will be primary.

Later you can go into the hard drive and copy the newer Datebook and Contacts databases over the older one to have the same data on both.

When I first sync'd (via WiFi) the TX on my PC, I looked to see if there was a new folder for that, and there wasn't. Then I sync'd my TE, and it got messed it up, by putting some TX files on it. I had to hard-reset and re-install every flippin app because even the SD card with the backups got corrupted. :mad:

I did create a new user on the Palm desktop for the TX with the TX's owner name. It didn't seem to make any difference. All that did is create an empty memo and contacts database. :confused:

BTW- I have the Palm desktop 4.1.4 and the help system doesn't have anything about having two Palms synced seprately on the same PC. I haven't had time to check the Palm website. :rolleyes:

I have the USB sync cable now, but I don't think it would be any different.

I just tried an experiment, to switch the username in the Palm desktop to the TX username (owner name) before syncing to the TX ownername, and when I launched the hotsync app on the TX, I still see the ownername for thw TE! Even the hotsync status window on the PC has the ownername for the TE when I sync the TX.

WTH?

Please, outline the exact steps I should do to sync a TX and a TE on the same PC? The help file does halve some information under "Using several Handhelds"

Is the device owner name irrevant for the hotsync, as long as you have the appropriate user name active?

I think I know what's going on.

When you first sync a device, the hotsync application asks to for a user name or to create a user, and the user you select or create is designated as the Hotsync username, and is different from the device's Owner name. You will see the hotsync name on the Hotsync screen, top-right corner.

Otherwise, you can select the hotsync name from the Quick Install dialog, or you can switch users in the Desktop app to add or change things like contacts, memos, etc.

Isn't there a secret shortcut to set the hotsync username? I lost my document with the secret shortcuts. :shortcut: 6 maybe?
