I was just wondering if there are bluetooth headphones for listening music on the NZ90?

That would be really cool!

you know, I've wondered the same thing. I don't know if bluetooth is fast enough to transmit audio, and the head phones would have to D/A convert too. Are there analog wireless headphones that might work? I don't know...Brian

BT is fast enough but there must be a 'BT headphone option' unless you cant use BT headphones like the Nokia 7650 Series 60 phone.

As far as I know those bluetooth headphones from the Korean company may not work as actual headphones as they have an mp3 player in conjunction with a bluetooth headset for cell fones. So the headphone part may just be for the headset/mp3 player and not compatible with a clié with a BT adapter or computer with a BT adapter. I would really love to know more about these though, as it would provide a great tool for users of the clié and T68i cell fone (or any BT enabled fone for that matter) if it proves to be usuable in headphone form with the clié.

Because Bluetooth transmits only (digital) data, unlike (the analog signals carried along wires to conventional) headphones, this headphone itself needs to work like an audio player, converting that data into music and replaying it," Tsutsumi said.

The highest hurdle at the moment is its battery life, Tsutsumi said, and the company is trying to make the device run at least for five hours. It also needs to be compatible not only with Bluetooth's standard sub-band audio codec but other audio codec formats, especially MP3 and Sony's ATRAC, as audio data on other devices, such as MiniDisc players, are usually compressed in that format, he said. a qoute from an article I found and subsequently lost the link too!

Does the Sony PEG-NZ90 CLIE support the Bluetooth headset profile?

Since it has built on bluetooth, or actually, built on or not built in, as long as bluetooth is added or exists then im sure the headset will work since all bluetooth devices are suppose to work with each other. All you will have to do is pair them

These headphones are the coolest, does anyone have these yet? :)

You can't just buy any regular Bluetooth headset and expect it to work with any Bluetooth handheld such as PDA, just because they are both Bluetooth devices. The Bluetooth enabled PDA must support the required Bluetooth headset profile to work with a Bluetooth headset.

Most Bluetooth cell phones have support for the Bluetooth headset profile and thus, will work with Bluetooth headsets. However, devices like the Nokia 7650 cell phone won't work with Bluetooth headsets because it doesn't support Bluetooth headset profile.

You can find a list of the various Bluetooth profiles at this URL: http://203.147.194.107/infotooth/tutorial/profiles.asp
You can also find additional information here: http://www.ericsson.com/bluetooth/products&s/show_product.asp?cat=47&prodid=72
Hopefully, this should give you a clearer picture of how different Bluetooth devices are dependent on the various Bluetooth profile implementations.

Most PDAs (e.g. Compaq iPAQ H3970 Pocket PC) have support for a data only Bluetooth implementation. Which means that they won't work with headsets since they currently do not support the Bluetooth headset profile.

The headphones you've highlighted requires the Advanced Audio Distribution (A2DP) Profile which is a fairly new profile. I am not aware of any PDA available today which supports the A2DP Profile. The website only says that it is "MS Windows compatible : Windows CE, 98, ME, 2000, XP". No mention about whether it works with PDAs or whether it supports the Bluetooth headset profile for it to work with Bluetooth cell phones.

Thank you for this info, it certainly has increased my knwoledge in bt technology. I was thinking that you are absolutely correct because even if you are able to pare the bt headset to the clie, you wont have the settings "profiles" to use it. Hopefuly sony or the headset company will provide us with a palm update for that. Maybe you can share to us more information about bluetooth and its history in the wireless section, this will also help other bt crazy minds in this forum and answer most of their questions about bt intigration for the CLIE and all other bluetooth gadgets.

Bluetooth headphones that are small and compact (like ear buds) might be a reason to upgrade to a new PDA for me. Not essential equipment, but cool enough that I would probably buy it.

I'd love BT earphones that I can use with my cellphone, home phone and my Clie as an MP3 player....
And hopefully smart enough that if the phone rings, they pause the MP3 player, and if I'm on the landline and the cellphone rings... I get some indication <g>

Well, that paints a pretty picture. Don't mind me while I get sick.

BT headphones are a long way from being practical. BT audio is fine for phone use but it's very low quality for music. Also the headphones would require their own mp3 decoder, cpu, and likely their own storage. Why bother with a pda connection if you have to integrate everything in to a headphone anyway? You end up with a headphone that is larger, more expensive, and a shorter battery life than most mp3 players. Even then the bandwidth is pretty tight for stereo 128k mp3's. Also no current or announced pda is supporting the BT music profile. No chance Sony is going to add it if they don't even produce a headset. BTW current headsets are expected to $300+ initially.

Bluetooth headphones would be frelling perfect for bands and/or club goers. Bands could run their signal through a computer when they're playing and have the bluetooth headphones as in ear monitors. I'm not entirely familiar with the ways Bluetooth works (just recently got interested), but if there were a way to break the signal up into different channels, everyone in the band could have a seperate mix. Any club go-er with a pair could then "tune in" to a seperate channel for a pristine mix of everything. Again, I'm not that familiar with the technology, but I'd love to put a bug in someone's ear to start development on this if it doesn't exist already.
I don't know if the amplification would be enough, or if there could be some use of the built in mic for noise cancellation, but it would be very kewl.
