Hey all,
I know the VZ90 forum is pretty much dead but just wanted to let you all know I given a VZ90 today. I am mainly going to put movies and videos on a 4GB CF or MS card. Probably a CF card since I got a 1GB MS card already.
I'll use FAT32 driver to make it work.
Any suggestions as to what I should add other than CliePet's English VZ files.
Lucky bastard!
I've been looking for one for months, now that I could actually afford one...
Where did you find it?

I was working with someone who had one. They were confused as to how to use it so they just gave it to me. :) I did try to teach them and showed a lot of interest in the CLIE.

I have a working ScsiLibrary file for those who are interested. It allows Data Import to work from CF, MS, or Int. Media without drivers!! :).

I'm interested in this ScsiLibrary. I hope to buy VZ90 sometime :)
PS. As for additional translation and if you'll find something useful, please share it - that's would be great.

I personally would not recommend you buy the device as your main device just because its 5 years old now. In order to enjoy the OLED screen, you have to convert all your videos into a Sony MP4 format which is very time consuming. The device is aesthetically appealing but the OS is limited (due to the single-tasking nature).
I installed my Media Launcher translated files onto it and now my Media Launcher experience is like 99% English. There are some exceptions due to Internal Memory and other things are named in Japanese.

PalmOS is still the best for me. I use Palm Centro as my only phone and organizer, and sometimes I use my good old UX50 for watching youtube when lying on sofa :)
VZ90 has better battery life and amazing screen, so it will be very nice replacement for UX.
As for MP4 format, convertation of a DVD-quality film to mp4 takes only 20-25 minutes on modern computer...

You can watch YouTube on the UX50? YouTube app?? Where you get it?
You are really getting me excited about Palm OS again. Thanks for the inspiration.

There are two prorgrams for watching YouTube on PalmOS: CorePlayer (commercial version of TCPMP) and Kinoma 4 (including it's free non-EX version).
For "multitasking" I use Desk Accessories, I recommend you to view TealWheel software - it's very good DA launcher. BTW music-players and im-clients work in background mode fine...

JAmerican,
Wow! I Hope you got it for less than $ 500.
I was looking for one but never found any under $ 500. :(
Still using my TH55 everyday.
Do you know if the modified scsi lib will work on the TH55?

If it doesn't work, I can get it to work! But, I believe it will work! :)
BTW, I got it for free as a present from someone who had it in their basement. They won it a few years ago.

You lucky bugger! That's fantastic!
I still use an NX80 almost every day for GPS with TomTom, reading medical textbooks with iSilo, watching movies & TV show episodes on TCPMP, and tuning my guitar with PhonTuner... plus the odd NES and Sega Megadrive game on LJP. Seven years old - how good is that!
What a shame that Palm can't capitalise on their past brilliance; today the story runs that they have put themselves in the market to be bought up.

Hello JAmerican,
First of all Iīm interested on scsi lib, where can I get it? It is for a TH55. Second, does the VZ90 have WIFI? If so, does it accept WPA password encription (besides of the WEP)?
Thanks

Sadly, it only does WEP from what I can tell.

Thats sad... Iīm trying to convince people at http://www.mobile-stream.com/
to create a software which makes the clie WPA and WPA2 compliant but they say they donīt have the time for this project... Maybe if everybody on this forum with this problem asks for this they might see a market for the update and start developing it! So lets get to action! Their e-mail adresses are info@mobile-stream.com for comum information and questions and support@mobile-stream.com for support questions. Letīs e-mail them asking for this so they see they have a market!

I own a Compaq C-Series model 2930A (Windows CE + Half VGA (color) + PCMCIA + Keyboard), very slow but fine for ocassional writers.
Another device I own is a Ericsson MC-218 (a PSION 5mx), half VGA but black and white, can run Perl 5 in this toy and has one of the best keyboards I ever seen on such devices. Running EPOC32 (Symbian).

Ahh, I too would love WPA/2 support on my TH55!
The problem is I'm not sure if mobile-stream could do it as there are lots of problems, the biggest is that WPA/2 needs more processing power than the TH55 has if they were to do it in software.
I don't know if it's possible to use the existing encryption paths in the wifi chip directly (IIRC, WPA uses the same encryption as WEP anyway; No use for WPA2 tho'), but reverse engineering it will need a lot of time and I can't see it being profitable enough; They'd have to charge more than anyone here'd pay for it.
Heck, nobody's even figured out how to control the audio player DSP chip in the OS5 units even after all these years! :(
(I still miss the AudioPlayerDA on my T665 :P)

grats to the VZ-90!
I still have mine, but it is kinda collecting dust. I charge the battery sometime that it won't loose it's capacity that much. Looking back to 2002, where sony started with the NR70V, it's technology was more modern than any other handheld. Even the iPhone 3GS has still 320x480 pixels. The VZ-90 loos still very modern to me, the Media launcher looks great, the screen is still colorful and crisp (I thought it would die after some years).

I was able to get the Apple Newton MessagePad 130 but it has some date glitches. Trying to find some use for it. Otherwise, it goes into my collection.

Can't blame you :D
My TH55 is still a heavy workhorse.
I need to hide it from DanT tho'; He repaired it for me and i've already cracked the left side and battery cover >_>
It seems like it doesn't fit together properly any more for some reason and the pressure on it s just making it crack :(
