We've had a lot of terrific discussion about e-books and readers here at ClieSource . . . I thought a thread linking to some of the best might be helpful to newbies (and oldies). Nothing is in any particular order, and this list is NOT all-inclusive, so I encourage you to do a search on your own if you need more information.

New place to buy e-books: Ebook Mall (http://www.ebookmall.com/). Seems to have an interesting selection - everything from bibles to "Everything You Wanted To Know About Hangovers". (Do a search for 'palm' and all the palm books will come up.)

Don't forget to stop by and see what's in the Vagrant's Library...it changes constantly. It's also an online converter for creating doc files from files on the Internet. When you do a conversion, a copy is placed in the library for download. You never know what you're going to find there. It also gets cleaned out on a semi-regular basis.

Okay YellowRose, I went to Arthur's Classic Novels and saw some great classics. But they are in .xml format. Is there a way to get them in PalmReader format, or even as word docs or text files? I copied an xml file to my computer and wasn't able to do anything with it.
Thanks for any help you can give me, I'm really enjoying reading books on my clie, and have given avantgo the boot as a good book is a better use of my time. Arthur has a lot of great books, if I can only get them on the clie!

YellowRose, I have DeepReader, but see more and more about Palm Reader. I must admit, I do prefer "paper" books, but when reading ebooks have used DeepReader. Yet, it doesn't seem all that popular. In your opinion, what does Palm Reader offer which puts it above the others.
Also, do you know of a (freeware?) program which converts files (either .txt or Word .doc) to DOC for reading on these readers? It would allow me to "archive" some of the information I use in DocstoGo onto an ebook reader.
Thanks.

MakeDoc is a command-line application that can convert text files into DOC files. You can download it at http://www.geocities.com/ebookepoc/utilities.html

I've always used QED/QEX2 (http://qland.de) to convert my plain text files to Palm DOC files. Although it is not exactly freeware, there does not seem to be any limitations on it besides its constant reminder that you should register it.
