Hi Folks,
I'm new to PDAs, so bear with me...
I'm considering the NX70 to access email and internet through an isp dialup from my cellphone. I know that a cable is available, and I know that I will be able to access my isp from the cellphone (limited to 14.4k). I have a few questions that I thought soemone out there might be able to answer:
1. Does the NX70 come with a browser?
2. Will the NX70 access my dialup connection?
3. Will I be able to access most websites?
Thanks in advance!
Scott

-Yes, the browser is called NetFront; you'll see many pros/cons in other threads
-Yes, you can access a dial-up connection, but you'll need a way to (probably a cable) to connect your phone and the NX70
-assuming your ISP isn't blocking anything, you can theoretically access them. Keep in mind the slow speed of your dialup and the small speed of the display, though. You'll do better going to sites that are designed for PDA/phone access

Thanks for the swift reply...
I'll do a search for Netfront to get the pros and cons.

I use the NX70 with my new Nokia 7210 GPRS cellphone very nicely. If you have a GSM carrier (Cingular, T-Mobile, and AT&T Wireless) you can probably get a phone which has an IR port, and then you don't need a modem. This works very nicely. For $19.95 I get 8MB of data a month through AT&T Wireless, which is a fair amount if I use a proxy browser (like Web Pro V) and turn off images.

How can you tell which phones are compatible with the NX70? I'm looking to get the new Nokia 6100 but I would like to have internet data capability.

Any phone with an IR port should be compatible. Almost all the Nokias do, as do most of the Sony/Ericsson phones. Not many Motorola phones do. GPRS will give you the fastest connection (theoretically ~40kbps), but if your provider and phone don't support GPRS you'll get something closer to 14.4. If your provider has GPRS you'll probably be billed separately for data; if they don't support it, then data will probably be billed as voice minutes.

Regarding the IR port, you just stick the phone and PDA side by side, and it will work?

also, for quick gprs settings for the palm, download connection manager (coma) from palmgear. it's quite hassle-free and offers plenty of phone and carrier combos.
