What is "Package Installer" ?

I've had a VFSDBCache.c error by this app "Package Installer 1.5" (logged by CrashPro on Palm TT5).

Does anyone have an idea about what this app is?

It's a leftover from a program you installed on your T5. Several programs (myKbd and others by A. Pruss among them) use installers that are essentially an unpacker (the "Package Installer" you saw) and the actual PRC and PDB files that make up the actual program. Once the program is installed the package installer is left behind. You can safely delete it.

Now I understand. I remember installing many programs by a self-extracting mechanism. However, I don't know why it had given me this error. I researched the "VFSDBCache.c" error and learned that it had something to do with a corrupt PIM record. So I installed dbfixit and there actually was a single corrupt record which it deleted. But what is the relation between such package installer and this error, I wonder?! :confused:
