My kids gave me a SJ30 for my birthday and I have'nt a clue how to use it. I have hot-synced it but still I need some help.
I would like to download some material from our church web site but I do have no idea where to start, also I have a computer game that I would like to use but again I have no idea what to do.
I look at the operating instructions on the compact disc and my eyes glaze over, good cure for insomnia. I have bought a book called "How to do everything with your Palm Handheld," that is a little help.
So! hear I am, retired with lots of time and frustrated as a one armed paperhanger.
Would appreciate any help

In general, you might try searching the site for particular topics, though I know that'll be a bit tough since, at this point, you don't know what you don't know. ;)

Download from a web site: There are a variety of apps that let you select web sites and then essentially copy them (or the key content) to your Clie. I use Handstory (http://www.handstory.com/). There's also AvantGo, iSilo, Plucker and more.

Computer game: You can't run a Windows computer game on your Clie. However, there are a variety of Palm-based games that you can download. Try looking here (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?forumid=29) for starters.

There's also a new Tips and Tricks (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?forumid=63) section here.

For now, I'd say take your time and read through the threads here. Soon you'll start figuring out all the amazing things you can do with your Clie, and you'll find lots of help here to get up and running.

I agree, for a novice trying to load info from a website, Handstory is a good choice, since it makes it very easy. Just load Handstory on your machine, and then after that, you can go to any website, right-click, and choose Clip to Palm, and it will take care of the rest. All you have to do is Hotsync, and it shows up in the Handstory app on your Clie.

Good luck learning all about your Clie. This is a great place to get info; unfortantely we just had a bad server crash that wiped out most of the archives. But we're building them back up, and you can feel free to ask for help on any of this stuff, and you're likely to get a prompt, useful answer. Welcome to the site!!

By the way, noticed you said "church website" and thought you might want a Bible Reader.  From what I've read around here for a while the consensus for a free, but very user friendly Bible Reader is found at Olive Tree, a site which includes a lot of free versions (KJV, NIV, etc) as well.

www.olivetree.com (http://www.olivetree.com)

Hope this helps you along.

Only hope the light is'nt a train.
